How many play multiplayer DA?

Have there been any polls to find out what kind of percentage of DA owners play multiplayer games? (Not that I'm interested, I like my butt right where it is, thanks.)

Also, is it possible to play multiplayer games with a group at home rather than on the internet? Something like this, maybe?

HUGE Dark Avatar game at Ed's next four Tuesday nights, 7:30 pm!
Bud Light and pretzels.
Bring your own laptop.
Femmes welcome if dressed conservatively.
Limited to 6 players so call in early.
First prize Nvidia GeForce 8200 graphics card, slightly bent.

Zero.

There's no multiplayer in any GC-2 game.

There is NO multiplayer in Galactic Civilizations II, or Dark Avatar, or Twilight of the Arnor. You can only play against the computer. This topic has been addressed many times and is sticked all over the place (ala the thread, Galactic Civilizations II, the case for no multiplayer). So in short, there is no way to do what you are suggesting, the game just doesn't support it.

There is however, an online ranking system called metaverse, that takes the scores from metaverse games you play (against the computer AI), and ranks them with other player's scores, producing a rank and medals for you. Other than that, there is again, NO MULTIPLAYER in GC2, DA, or TA.

Not ENTIRELY true. Via the cheat system you could keep swapping races for a quasi-hotseat game.

Like LogicSequence, I do have to laugh a bit at this. Certainly for years now, I've heard that this can be done but I have never once heard of anyone ever even attempting it. Has anyone ever really tried this?

Perhaps there may be a few folks that have tried this. For all I know someone started a medium galaxy 2 player hot seat game back in 2006 and the reason we haven't heard anything yet is that they're still in the colony rush phase of the game. :D

I've read a note about that: after some turns game simply crashed.

It crashes after a while. It also gives one WND problems with the pop-ups

I've tried it a few times to test mods, etc. It is really useful when you just want to make sure you altered/fixed a file correctly without having to worry about playing the game.
