Ethics Techs

Ok, I've heard this sort of thing before, but I just have to chime in. After playing along all three ethics lines I really believe things are a bit out of balance. I would love to see the individual events mean more, in that the in game effects really don't mean much once you get past the first few turns. Increase the numbers involved. Make us really have to think about what choice to take.

Once you've gone down the tech tree and can finally pick an ethics route, make it much more expensive to choose contrary to your in game choices. Right now I can always just choose whatever I want. It's never "hurtfull" to spend the max amount to pick good when I've been choose evil choices all game.

Finally, please, please, add a few more techs to the trees. Make the ethics choices more interesting. Add a few more techs that are really flavored by the ethics route. And if good is meant to be tougher to follow than evil, make the reward more worth while. If I've been benefitting from evil event choices all game, make my final tech rewards slightly weaker than what I would have gotten if I had sucked it up and taken the ethically good choices at the detriment of my short term success. If no new techs, then maybe a more mega events could be added that only effect certain ethically aligned races.

I don't want to complain too much. You guys have a wonder game here. I just wanted to be sure and voice my thoughts on this ethics thing. It's a really cool game mechanic that just hasn't seen it's full potential realized.

Yeah I would agree, it does seem rather cheap and economical to make a sudden switch in ethical choice. The way the tree is set up now, I think would not only welcome new techs to that branch, but I think it asks for it.

Once you research the whole 3 techs it takes to get the full line done, you suddenly have 3 wonders to build, and that seems somewhat off to me.

I too, support a more expanded ethics tech tree or system. With unique tech tree's per race, expanded tech choices for good/evil will create wide varieties never before seen!

And evil is just way too tasty to pass up.

I'm evil!
yay!
(Praise satan!)

There was in interesting topic here: Closet Anarchists

I think that the government choice techs should be tied to ethics. It seems logical that evil races would be more authoritarian, while the neutral and good races would be more likely to utilize higher forms of government.
