Minor race ascension event

That's an interesting one. The Dark Yor achieved enlightement, apparently, and this gave them a bunch of high-end techs. They were willing to give them to me in exchange for the vast stores of relatively junky techs I had, so now I have ships with Black Hole Eruptors and nothing can challenge my power (well, the Dark Yor might have, but I destroyed them before they built any attack ships to worry about). Is that how this event is supposed to work? I suppose this might explain some of those 'Drath magically have HyperWarp III!' reports...

I thought they fixed the anomalous techs that races were getting out of nowhere.

hah I just replied o someone with this, but yes I can confim tha a minor ace can achieve transcendence.

I have a game i can't finish cause i can't get the turn button back, where the Jagged Knife popped up, and apparently they started up in the tech tree all the way to the second last tech in the Tech Victory branch which was pretty funny. To bad i haven't been able to steal it from them yet though.

The techs that are randomly popping up in TA are ridiculous. I have a current game were the Korath are using 15+ speed ships that are armed with Mk IV lasers. Everybody else is at 3-7 speed and I am using an all research lab strategy, so there is no way that they could have gotten that to that part of the tech tree before me.

I have a game going right now where the Jagged Knife appeared and two turnsl later achieved ascendancy. It did not end the game as it would with a "Major" race, but I got a dialog box announcing the achievment and also adding that my race would never achieve it. They already had all the good techs because they get all of the techs of the races in the game upon appearing (I believe that's the case anyway) and the Dread Lords were already in the game. I'm just now stamping them and the Dread Lords out after a couple of hundred turns.

Not unlike the Vegans last night achieving a "technology" victory just moments after coming on the scene before my Arcean transports could make the jump between my space and where their plant ended up being.

Not that this stopped me from plundering their planet mind you, just had to go about winning the old fashioned way, last one standing.

It's a bit annoying when this kind of thing happens. I just had a Jagged blade event in a Drath game I'm playing. On the plus side, I paid everyone else off to war with each other, and went around gobbling up undefended Jagged Blade worlds... going to come out of this one greatly boosted.

Though I can't do a tech victory now due to the previously mentioned ascendancy of the Blade.

Are you sure?

I would have SWORN I'd won tech victories after minor-race ascensions in the past...
