Drengin Kill Zone Computer Tech

I noticed last night that the Drengin Kill Zone Computer tech gives the same component as another tech....the preceding one. I don't recall the name just now. The component involved is the Weapon Amplifier. Is this the desired behaviour, or should there be an "enhanced weapon amplifier"?

The component from the first amplifier tech gives a 20% bonus to weapons, the Kill Zone tech component gives a 33% bonus.

I noticed this too. They may have different effects, but the ship component with the greater effects really should have a different name. Much like Deflectors and Enhanced Deflectors.

Speaking of which, I don't know how many people have tried that component... It is really, really powerful. I was playing as Korath. I could easily fit 3 Psyonic missiles plus the basic amplifier on a medium ship with small defenses and a good engine. Giving me 21 attack in my space (which includes on recently spore shipped colonies). I put those suckers in fleets and I flying around with 70 attack fleets. Unstoppable. I didn't even bother getting the next tech up. Didn't need it to wipe the galaxy. Time to raise the difficulty.

I haven't tried the other races, but I hope they have something sufficiently powerful to counter that because ouch.

The naming should probably be different, tho'.

Ah, I didn't notice the effect difference. Cool! I LOVE these special components. They are very powerful, as you mention, and they add flavor. So far I've played as Terran, Acrean, and Drengin with the new enhancements, and it looks like each race has some sort of similiar item. Some provide powerful defense, others provide power attack so I think it'll all balance out in the end.  :CONGRAT:

Some don't get those components, actually. As I recall, the Yor and Torians don't have stellar defense techs at all.

From what I can tell, the Terrans have the best combination of fleet and ship enhancement techs, with all sort of options available to them that other races don't get like the warp bubbles, stellar defense techs for both offense AND defense in friendly territory, and advanced versions of the fleet ehancing components.

That said, I haven't played the Krynn yet, and they're supposed to have some really powerful fleet components, so don't take my word on that quite yet.
