Disappearing/inactive Turn button

I have run into a problem with the latest beta build of TOA: The Turn button either vanishes from the screen after clicking on it or it just doesn't work at all.

Oops, forgot to add that I was playing the Iconians on a Large galaxy. The game didn't actually crash, per se. It just stopped moving forward.

I've had the same problem, another thread said zooming the view all the way in was a fix, but i havnt had a chance to confirm it yet =)

I have the same problem, pretty consistently once the game gets a few years in. I haven't tried the "zooming" idea, but will do so. The "workaround" that I discovered is less handy. I found that if I do a quicksave (even with the missing turn button) and then reload the game, it completes whatever cycle it was stuck on and the turn button magically reappears.

I think I've found out what's causing this. At the end of the colony rush, I set the remaining colony ships on auto explore.
After a while the turn button disappeared. By chance I selected one of the colony ships and noticed it had turns left and was trying to go straight through a planet. After moving the Colony ship manually the turn button reappeared and worked happily ever after since.

I'm also running into this bug. Just brings the game to an immediate halt.
None of my ships have any moves left. Clicking on Turn however, means that the button goes away and never comes back.

Perhaps another civ cannot get through a planet with one of their ships... I can't tell.
The quicksave workaround works in that the Turn button comes back. But, clicking it results in the same problem.

DA has that problem too... I just ran to it, apparently a thalan fleet is stuck to a torian planet or something (they're at war.

I reported this problem to the Devs earlier today and am happy to report that what was causing my stuck turn change/turn button problem in that particular game has been addressed. That being said, the source of your problems may be different. I suggest that each of you report your particular problem by sending a compressed save game exhibiting the bug to [email protected] with a full description of what was occurring.

Yes. I've had similar experiences. Clicking on the afflicted ship often causes the turn to continue to process normally. However, in my last game, which I reported and sent to Stardock resulting in the fix reported in my prior post, that technique would not work. Further saving the game did not work either as it usually had. When I came back into the game the turn button simply did not function.

If the turn button dissapears, quicksave then reload. If it's still gone, hit enter as that usualy causes your turn to end and then the button will re-appear next round. Seems to fix it for me.

I would like to confirm this as well. I was playing on a gigantic map and this took place towards the very end of the game. I can absolutely say though that the turn button disappearing would occur over and over again after a battle occurred. Further, I could save the game when this happened, close the program and then reload. This would put me back in time with a turn button and let me delete the ships that got into a battle =). Amusingly, when I deleted enough ships, the bug eventually stopped happening.

I'll be uploading my own instance of this bug tonight. I don't know if this is reported in this (or other) threads, but when the Turn button disappeared for me I also couldn't move the view. If I clicked and dragged, the view would shift a small amount and then snap back to where it was.

My save is from a few turns before the bug manifests, which gave me some options to try and get around it. For me, the bug seems to be related to trying to rush buy a ship to protect a planet from an incoming Troop ship. When I tried to buy a defender, the Arceans arrived before it was complete and invaded (and lost, 2B v 12B) and then the Turn button would be gone. If I didn't try to buy the ship, then the Turn button was fine.

This was on a medium sized map.

I saw this bug tonight as well, but it is a little different. When the turn button disappeared on me, it was because the auto-moves weren't resolving correctly. What happened is that the miners were on auto-mine and were trying to go to asteroids that the terrians had ships/miners on. The Terrians didn't build mining bases (for some reason), they just had miners and other ships on the asteroids. The auto-mine was trying to bring the miner to that asteroid to mine (it was the last one), but the terrians just sat on them doing nothing. The auto-pilot couldn't figure out what to do since it kept trying to move into a space that was occupied. The turn button "disappeared" because it couldn't complete the auto-pilot moves.

This bug is caused by a variety of events tied to auto-ship movement and attack. The game becomes stuck and does not fully process the turn change because it cannot resolve the movement of a particular ship or fleet. For example, in one of my reports the problem was caused by a Drengin scout ship attempting to move 'through' a planet. Instead of going around, it just became stuck. The screen view remained fixed on it and could not be pulled away. I reported this to the developers. I was able to work around this particular instance by purchasing the ship from the Drengin and then taking the ship off of autopilot manually. Unfortunately, later in the same game an Arcean scout ship tried to do the exact same thing with the same planet while traveling the same route as the previous Drengin ship. The unfortunate part is this time I had just had a diplomatic audience with the Arceans before this event and they would not talk with me again for a few turns, which meant I could not buy the ship and get past the block. The game was a loss.

In another instance, this bug occurred to me when a Torian fleet was attempting to attack one of my fleets (right after I declared war) but could not because of a UP rule requiring them to wait one turn. This caused the game to become stuck. I reported this to Stardock as well. Cari was able to fix this one.

I noticed this a few times myself. After some testing around, I noticed that turning off the setting that shows you enemy combat has really cut down on it. I've only had it once since disabling this, and it was one of my constructors. I decommissioned him and the turn completed. Also, in this last case the camera view was stuck to the constructor. I could move away, but it would pan back to the ship.

Disabling show battle sequence and show opponent's battle sequences worked for me. After I disabled them I had no freezes of the game and no disappearing turnbutton. I switched them off in a game in which ships refused to move and the turnbutton caused problems, after that I could play on without a problem.

The same worked for me, but I disabled anything to do with showing battles.
