Terror Star Suggestion

This isn't a major suggestion, and it won't affect gameplay, but I suggest changing the name of the final module of a Terror Star from "Death Beam" to "Starhammer".

Starhammer sounds a lot more interesting that Death Beam, IMO, and is a reference to a similar weapon in the "Starhammer" series of novels by Christopher Rowley. What a TS does looks a lot like it "hammers" the star, causing it to supernova, so calling it a Starhammer Beam wouldn't be out of place.

I think that "Death Beam" sounds more destructive than "Starhammer". If anything, "Starhammer" sounds like something that you might use to make a star or something, since a hammer is a building tool.

just make sure the guys over at the actual Starhammer dont get upset you stole their name ;-) not that im against changing it, i think Death Beam is a little unimaginative... i would definitely like some obscure sci-fi reference like that... would kinda fit with the motif of the game you know.

Something that has a semi-plausible description of how it works might be nice. "Stellar Disruption Beam" or "Fusion Accelerator Weapon" might be more appropriate.

"Death Beam" sounds like an old cliché from old 50's comic books. Anything is better than death beam.

In keeping with the general tone of GalCiv2, I propose Illudium Q-36 Space Modulator.

I'm not that unhappy with the current name, but to throw another suggestion in the pot, how about "Gravity Gun" or "Gravity Cannon"?

It's subtle, but if you understand how supernovas work (and from earlier suggestions I'm guessing a lot of players here do), it's an apt description. Stars are in a constant, shifting balance between the outward pressure of nuclear reactions, and the inward pressure of gravity for the stellar gas. Figure out a way to warp the local spacetime curvature so gravity wins the battle, and KABOOM!

P.S. I really like the earlier "Illudium Q-36 Space Modulator" suggestion too, if Stardock could use that without getting sued by Warner Brothers.

Sword of the Universe?
Quantum Deconstructor?
Gravity Cancellation Beam?
Plasmatic Polymerization Device?
Give-The-Enemy-Religion Gun?

What about those?

Either of these are good, I prefer the first one but not by much. Good suggestions!

Also we could just go with Star Destroyer

Nah, if you want to go that route it would have to be Sun Crusher.

That, in fact, is a compelling reason to not use Starhammer as the name of the weapon in this game.
