Wierd beam weapon crash bug

Not sure if anyone has seen this and i tried to search but couldnt find anything similar. It happens when u own a ship with a beam weapon and try to attack enemies with said ship. It immediately makes the turn button disappear and you cant click on anything else effectively freezing the game. U can scroll around and sometimes look at planets but thats about it. Reloading the game without completely exiting does nothing.

Also, when you try to colonize a planet that the AI wants and u get there the same turn but u land first, they try to land as well and then the game locks up.

O rly, if you have any saved games that reproduce these problems, please zip them and send them to [email protected]. 

Does it happen with any beam weapon?  Is it always a beam weapon?  The not-being-able to select things during a battle is intended, but it sounds like the battle is never starting or ending properly.  The turn button shouldn't disappear though.  Is this battle happening after you hit the turn button?

Yes, it seems to happen with any beam weapon at this point and its always a beam weapon. It does indeed seem like the battle is never initiated cause it happens as soon as i give the attack order. Then the game just sits there eating up ram until it crashes out as i tried to wait it out for over 10 min. If u hit turn button, then its really over and u have to exit the whole game or else the game wont run properly again.

Seems like a stupid question but where do i find the save game files?

hmm the bug seems to have expanded to other races now who starts using beam weapons. I think it starts with the korath somehow getting ahold of disruptors too early in the game or something cause i start seeing them with it like 20-30 turns into the game. I used lasers just fine to begin with and subsequent beam weapons lost their graphics and then all races who used beam weapons lost the graphics associated with their weapons.

Somewhere in the korath beam weapon code is causing some sort of cascade effect that makes the graphics not show up in game so the game just sits there waiting for it to happen forever.
