Does techs, planetary improvements description have a better a sci-fi feeling in TA?

I'm an owner of GC2 and DA and while both games are really among the best TBS games i've ever played one of the things which really pissed me off was that tech or planetary improvement description in both games were often overlooked, so for example description of the Warp-Drive engine was "Vroooooom" which totally destroyed immersivity for me.
I wonder if in TA those hurrily made tech descriptions are replaced by descriptions which are more sci-fi giving you more immersivity in the gc2 world.
Considering also that now every race has its own tech tree does their tech and improvement description give you a better idea of their society, or they are just bland under this point of view?

Yes. Techs in TA have much more in-depth descriptions, particularly ones with historical/story significance.

I personally loved the comical lines when some techs were researched. It stops the game from becoming so serious all the time. I don't expect most people bother reading the stuff anyway and just click Done as soon as the window comes up. I personally think that the best games are those that don't always take itself seriously, and it elements such as these that really separate a game from a hardcore simulation, or the next step where gamers become so immersed that it practically absorbs them into it (which is a bad thing).

I do, however, agree that insights into certain races based on their descriptions is definately needed. This WOULD make the game that much more interesting so you actually feel like you're playing AS that race rather than just the Terrans dressed in an alien costume and a different set of techs.

I have been playing the Yor quite a bit sence they were introduced in the Beta, and the unique techs and the descirptions are quite good. Some are very short, and many are very silly. I personaly laughed quite a bit the first time I get the 'Vrooom' description when I first got GalCiv 2. I just can imagine N-1 planning to take over a planet to make room for more of his kind with his crazy advsior bugging him with what was just researched.

Look at it this way. Firefly was way way funny and one the coolest Sci-Fi shows out there.
