Improve Minor Races

Improve Minor Races

Seen as a few of the members here have talked about their wishes for the minor races to be given an AI boost (or anti-moron pills ) i thought it would be a good idea to see how many of us would like for some sort of improvement to happen to the Minor races.

At present i would like this thread kept clear of what you would like to happen and just use it to put your name down (sort of like a pre-request poll) if you wuld like some sort of improvement to be made to the Minor races.

A simple post of 'Yes' will do thanks

Absolutely. What's more fun than using minions to do your bidding? It would be nice if you could fund them to spy on or sabotage other races as well.

Yes

It fine them having no empire ambitions, but at the moment they are just free gifts, they need a rock solid Homeworld at least.

Thanks to everyone who answered in this thread. Hopefully one of the devs may have noticed this and will see a way to give us the option for more improved minor races.

It does seem that in this short time enough of us have answered this to maybe warrant the inclusion of this in an upcoming update. How they do this i doubt any of us really mind as long as we get the ability to see them do more than build constructors etc and just sit around waiting for one of the majors to conquer them.

Once again my thanks to you all.

They should stop spamming influence stations everywhere (Carnoids are the biggest offenders), it's very annoying. I'm not too fond of them capturing resources too much either to be honest, it just makes me want to kill them off even more.

Their constructor building is way out of control, they tend to build constructors and freighters and maybe a handful of horribly underpowered attack ships (3-10 ATK point ships when they have much better tech available).

Personally I try to keep the minors in my sphere of influence alive because they make good trade partners and you they are good for econ/research treaties, I'm sure it's more profitable to just kill them for their sweet sweet homeworlds though.

All the minors really need is to be somewhat interested in not dying, I really don't expect them to have amazing AI or anything, just good trade partners, and perhaps build a few military bases around their homeworld + keep a small but fairly well armed navy going.. they seem to have zero interest in defending themselves, they put 8 constructors in orbit of their homeworld, spam worthless influence stations now and then, and wait for death.. considering they all have PQ 15 base homeworlds they are already tempting enough to kill off. =P

I wouldn't also mind seeing some new minor portraits.. like 3 of them are tied to that 'froggyman' portrait for some reason. More variety would be nice, maybe add some good player submitted ones? The ability to create minors (without having to go XML editting or what not) would be cool.

This might just be me, but I'd like some way to control them or manipulate them more. I mean, I've got this big space empire and they can't even land a sentient on the nearest planet in their own system! As such I am unto a god to them to some degree. So why is it that I can't steal their tech for cheap or just make unfair deals with them, when my empire surrounds them and I have fleets orbiting their worlds that could decimate them in an instant?

Well, ok, to be serious, what I mean is that usually the only reason I don't invade them is the hope that I might be able to pump them for low level techs that I don't have. But I allways reach a point where they either won't trade any tech to me (despite our long history of good relations) or they just suddenly stop researching.

The first problem might have something to do with my play style (no armed ships until a fight breaks out then I swarm the map using the production and tech i built up instead and end up with a military 2times the strength of anyone else). But is there a reason why the minor's stop researching and could that be fixed with the ai bump?

First: The thread was three months old, was the necromancy really necessary?
Second: The latest version of TA have the minors given an AI boost. Still obviously some work to be done, but it's coming.
