Torians, Torians, Torians...

A couple things:

Firstly, is Aquatic Colonization supposed to give a 2% courage bonus? That's not very much of a boost at all so it seems out of place...

Speaking of not very much of a boost at all, should Nano Materials really only give a tiny 2% boost to hit points? At the point you research it, its going to be another half the game or so before you have a ship bit enough to be affected by that...

And lastly, the Torian's start-of-game Galactic Achievement, the water transport one, really should probably be a Super Project; there's not much point in it being a Galactic Achievement if only the Torians can build it anyway (not to mention can build it so early no one else has a chance even if they could build it).

Oh, and the water transport project is missing graphics, namely the picture that pops up when you construct it and the picture in the lower left of the screen when you select it. It also seems to currently share a graphic with the Yor economy building.

The bonuses are pretty minor since they're racial techs. The hit points bonus does add up a bit more once you get the next tech in line, which gives 3% (total 5% between the two).

When I played the Yor and saw that there was a 2% courage bonus with the aquatic tech I chuckled, made me think of toasters and water . But if every race get the bonus i guess it isn't as funny.

Brad has added some improvements and just used existing GFX as placeholders. Here's the actual Aquatic Transport Station (which you guys will be getting in Beta 2b)....

Boogie, I generally like your stuff, but I think you should do some more stylistic distinctions between races.

Though a lot of parallelism makes sense between Drengin and Korath, I also note a lot of stylistic similarity between say, Arceans and Torians. I see a lot of reminiscent touches, colors between the above device and the Arcean Weather Control Center, for instance.

I would actually expect many Torian buildings and devices to have Drengin influences a bit; after 100 years of occupation, you're likely to get an obliterating backlash; after 30,000 years the populace wouldn't even know that there was another way to build things.

And what's with the 1950s neon tubes poking out of EVERYTHING; don't they have good old structural reinforced concrete and insulated cables where your head lives? Sometimes?

Yeah, actually most of the Torian stuff has an angular 'Drengin' feel to it...that Transport Station is really the only 'round' one of the bunch...mostly to differenciate it from a distance (remember, they all have to look inique from a distance).

The 'neon' tubes are the water conduits comign from the central basin...they just look like their glowing because of the outer glow I gave to the whole image.

I think this was suggested in another thread, but I'd like to bump the request that we have some way to see planet improvement graphics large enough to appreciate them. Most of that nice artwork is lost when it's shrunk down to icons on the planet view. Even the slightly larger image in the lower left corner of the screen doesn't show much detail. Could we get a pop-up window that would show the full graphic if we hover over that lower-left image?

Acewing: The 'Aquatic Transport Station' is a Special Imp that Torian's get to quickly rehydrate their fleets. I tweaked this to increase your range, though Brad may change it back to Logistics (since you get it so early, I felt a range boost was more useful).

Zenicetus: I think we found a cool way to get work some of the high-res improvements into the game. We'll keep you posted on how that works out

Wouldn't it have to be a galactic achievement? Otherwise everyone who traded for the tech could build one.

Ah, I was under the assumption that "Inherited Technology" wasn't tradeable/stealable. Heck, all the starting Research techs are, except for Cybernetic History. Why? The corresponding Industry techs aren't tradeable... if it remains that way (and I hope it doesn't), I can see the need for the water transport thing to be a Galactic Achievement.
