Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

OMG, I'm just getting to the climax where I totally dominate the universe (well maybe that's going a bit far, i'm really just dominating the Iconian) and my game always crashes on the autosave. FRUSTRAITING! I might have to tone down my Gaphics just to finish the game. I'll get a couple of screenies for you guy even though your probably sick of hearing me ramble on about this bloody game. :P

oh btw Kp your sugestions, They work wonders. I am at 77% taxes and my Morale is just rising. holding at 70% at the moment. I'm gonna up it when I reach 75%, maybe throw in a few more arena's of agony just to keep people happy with slave fights. I'm bringing in a good steady 3500 bc, the temple of Evil brings in some too plus the extra I make from tech trades (always earn something extra, squeeze every drop from the suckers).

I am surprisingly enthusiasic about winning this.

Also I got red streaks through my hair this arvo. i'm so pumped for school when the hols end (only coz i got new hair :P, after which i will be bored).

Ok so lower my moral too 75% or so and up taxes. that would up my treasury definately. Would that also up my production output?
End of quote

It will allow you to keep your production slider at 100%, and maybe give you enough so you can build additional factories on some worlds. It won't simply boost production on its own.

Also I'd like to say the Mind control centers work wonders. Got one on every planet.
End of quote

How did you pull that off? The MCC is a one-per-galaxy building, and having a second one wouldn't give any benefit anyway. If you mean something like the Dark Influence building, yes those are powerful additions to any empire.

I noticed that all AI's seem intent on using Beam, weapons. In harder levels do they eventually use other types of weapons coz i'm wasting space with Armour and Point defence systems.
End of quote

They will use other weapons, but you should wait until they do so to add armor or point defense. Having multiple defenses on your ships wastes space, unless you are facing more than one AI at a time using different weapons, or one AI using mixed weapons.

Oh another question about race setup. If i have an overpowering influence, is there really any need to have loyalty upgrades? otherwise i'd up my diplomacy level so i can Aquire technologies, ships, bases and planets cheaper.
End of quote

Definitely lose the loyalty in favor of something else. Loyalty is a defensive measure against someone else's overpowering influence; if your planets are never in danger of flipping yourloyalty bonus is never being used.

Best news I heard all day. Yup definately getting more on dipolmacy for mt next game.

Actually mind control center is a dark side improvement. adds 50% influence, 20% economy, 10% morale (I think) to a planet. Hye i've just been able to get one for every planet i have and they have been doing wonders. No galactic achievement written on them, they don't cost much either. 2000BC roughly and their good to go.

unusual that you say you can't get them. If I could upload screenshots i'd show you but photobucket isn't working for me. got to get a new account i guess :\, staff at photobucket.com haven't gotten back to me on the upload bug.

Took your advice, Since all the AI have no Missile or mass driver weapons (except those who traded with me), I've equiped my ships with ONLY Sheilds. so far my capital ships have outguned and defenced the best fleets of the Iconian and Dog fleets (Dogs of Razaka have weapon ups I might add). Great Idea, i'm actually thinking of making series of ships. combining a weapon type and a different defence type. I hope it works, wish me luck.

so it's all going to my wallet. :\ what a shame. oh well means I can get more Devine Favour and Anabu class battle ships.

Must be the same name applied to two different buildings, then. The MCC is also a Galactic Wonder that flips any planet that can be flipped on the first possible turn. It is available after researching concepts of malice on many tech trees. Which tree are you using?

i'm using the Terran tech tree, i'm aligned with evil and I have researched malice.

I have a lot of Traded techs from other races though so it's sort of a mix, might have aquired it from another race. I'll check next time my game works.

I think i remember something about a galactic achievement dealing with mind control... but for some reason rehab center springs to mind and i know that's not right.... grr frustrating.

Glad my tips helped you out a bit CatPharoah.  Sounds like your game is going really well. :)  Yeah I was referring to the galactic achievment MCC so I am not familiar with whatever the other one is.  I agree with Willy, ditch loyalty for something more offensive (diplomacy is very offensive in this game) or or that benefits your economy.  One last thing about morale and taxes, every multiple of 10 is another major break-point for morale, so often you want to keep taxes at something that ends in a 9 like 39, 49, 59, etc.  You'll see that going from a "9" to a "0" for taxes really drops the morale.

Yes, having more income means being able to do more of everything else....ships, factories, labs, etc.  In this game you get penalized for saving (above 20k) so spend like a demon! }:)

no problem. I keep hitting the -19k mark every time I buy one too many of my custom ships. Their beautiful but they chew through credit like no other ship in the game. I only have a grand total of 4 huge ships and 9 large. that alone took me a years worth of credit to make. My income now is 3000bc so that's a fair bit with my methods of aquiring wealth.

as for loyalty it's ditched, I have full economy, influence and Diplomacy. I'm a super manipulator which i'm loving and I have the universalist party... hows the setup?

Seems like I haven't posted, like forever. Many reasons. Anyway, hi all, and greetings to the new members. Just submitted another victory for the Empire.

It does seem like forever.  Last time I looked you were still #1 on the AltMeta.  Everything good, Eh?

First of all, wb ferrel.

Second of all, The game i've been working on went corrupt after a failed autosave. I swear those autosaves are a menace, anyways I lost it all. previous autosave went corrupt and my main autosave. says there wasn't enough memory to save and it crashed galciv2 right in the middle of saving...

is there any way to turn previous autosave off? or will i just have to turn autosave off all together and prey to god my game doesn't fail me when I forget to save constantly?

Hey Ferrel, good to see you playing again. :)

CatPharoah, sorry to hear about your problems.  I had some similar issues and had to re-load to an earlier save and replay my current game a different way.  I usually keep at 3 save files of each game at well-spaced intervals in case something happens.

Kzinti empire2.JPG Sentient species taste better...

Yeah, saving manually every few turns, or every hour or so of play time, is a good defense against the OOM save corruption. Although I think they fixed that in TA, so it checks memory *before* it corrupts your save.

There are ways to recognize that you are close to an OOM error. If explosions start going funny, DON'T TRY TO SAVE. Quit the game, relaunch and reload the latest save.

Some wisdom from the War Council:

It would appear that the ascension victory may score lower than a military conquest:

I'm going to go back and replay the end and see what the difference is.

~a short time later~

196K difference in score. The only differences between the ascension and military victories were 4 weeks and an economic boom that lasted a few months. Doesn't seem to justify the score difference unless the two victories score differently.

Thanks Snark!  Good info to know, and a rather surprising result.

Quiet useful. Besides accention is quiet a dull way to win, nothing beats the thrill of Crushing one's foe beneath ones feet. then again same goes for allies and anyone foolish enough to think your litteraly are their ally.

End of CatPharaoh's quote

It's too bad that there is not some scoring boost for planets which are taken by force, or for enemy ships destroyed in combat. After all, a military conquest ought to actually reward military action.

I'm duplicating the above experiment to make sure the first one was not some kind of odd fluke.

A penalty for every lose and a bonus for every win, and for using a terror star all ships, planets and such should be taken into acount (yes and penaties for getting your own forces in the blast) then double the score earned. I think i've gone a bit mad with the terror star Idead but bonus and penaties would be good. they should include that in galciv 3, (if they make one) if not a galciv2 update.

I have been playing Mafia Wars on FaceBook, and it has turned out to be quite a lot of fun!  I encourage everyone to give it a try.  The more people the playing the more fun it gets.  You can friend me here and sign up for Mafia Wars here.  Every person in your friends list that plays mafia wars increases the membership of your mafia by 1, so it a symbiotic criminal relationship. ;)

Just let you know, I am alright if you were worried about me when the bombs went off in my city, Jakarta, Indonesia. The Southeast Asian terrorist group called Jemaah Islamiyah might be the ones who were targeting the top foreign executives from major companies, it was a high profile meeting led by the Amercians.

I know I was out of touch with the world news when I went on vacation...but normally something like that catches my eye.  I blame the reduced news on my mobile phone's internet...

Glad to hear your ok though.
