Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

Well, nothing gamechanging yet, at least.  I set up a map on CNN.com of what I thought was a feasible tie situation (269-269) to track whether either candidate started making a break away, and so far no states have switched from that projection.

Edit: Er, ABC is now projecting Obama as winning Ohio, which is pretty gamechanging.  I really can't see how McCain can make up that loss, since Obama already has the majority of the states he needed.  Granted, CNN hasn't projected for Ohio yet, and only 12% of precincts have reported in, but things don't look good for McCain.

With Ohio being called by all news sources for Obama, even if McCain wins all the other swing states now, he still loses.  Game Over!

And with Cali, Oregon and Washignton all about to close voing and with little to no chance of those states going red it seems more and more likely an obama win..

Fox News has it at 220-138 atm....

How many electoral votes does Cali have...55? Thats enough right there.

At 297 Electoral Votes, Obama is our President Elect.  I just drank a toast to our new President and forsee a pretty bright furture.   :)   For once, we had two great candidates to choose from.  Nobody loses.

John McCain has made a very gracious and genuine concession speech.  He spoke about race in particular, underlining the incredible significance of the first African-American being elected president of the US.  I really do have a lot of hope that a new day has dawned for my country, in many different ways.

McCain's speach was nice, he was gracious...Obama' speach is on now.

Would have been nice for his grandmother to live just 1 more day.

Just shows how much 1 day in life can make all the difference...

Looks like I'm paying off, I bet my sister they'd call the election BEFORE california was called. Everyone knew Obama was going to win, I just expected it to be with somewhat more overkill.

Also, in regional races - you may start hearing about Aaron Schock. At 26, he's the youngest member of the House. At 19, he beat the sitting school board president as a write-in candidate, then took the chair two years later. Then got elected to the state house, and now the US house. He now holds the seat that, 150 years ago, was held by Lincoln. No doubt you'll be hearing from him in 2020.

I thought we were running SB in 2020?

Once I saw Obama had 200 votes, I went to bed knowing the outcome.  With 73 votes on the west coast almost definitly going to Obama, 200 was the number for him to see early on IMHO.  349-162 though....thwomped.  Seems KP's state was a bit more blue than mine...55:44 here in PA with my county going red 51:47.  County-wise though in my state, it's fairly red...it's just the 4 major cities bringing in the blue votes.

Indiana was a turnaround while I slept though.  I went to bed with McCain up by 7,000 votes with ~25% left to report in.

*edit*  DARN YOU STARDOCK FOR TURNING US ALL INTO POLITICAL ANAYLISTS!!!!!!!  /cough  I mean, it actually made the election that much more interesting on the build-up looking at polls and knowing where the candidates need to work on to really make a differance.  If I get around to getting a better video card, I'll give you props in the way of buying PM2008 instead of just playing the demo.

Indiana really surprised me!  I think they said it had not voted democratic in 60-70 years?  And Virginia hadnt either since 1964.  I'm quite happy to see my home state of VT went 67% for Obama. :)  Even though it doesnt ultimately matter, I'm very curious to see who ends up winning Missouri and North Carolina, both of which show a .2% difference.

Obama's grandma dying just before the election was so sad.  Another one of the moments that made this election so poignant.

...still waiting for definite results on prop 8, the gay marriage ban. i'm staying optimistic, as the obama lead surged to 61% overnight. i'm hoping that means the more liberal districts hadn't been counted in the more recent exit polls. should no in a few hours.

though i just found something. the prop is passing at 94% reporting with a 4 point lead. can't say i'm happy about that.

MSNBC has Missouri as McCain's, won by 5,853 votes.  NC says 100% reporting w/ Obama 12,160 votes ahead....but it's still not called to anybody.

Aye...you'd need roughly 75% of the people not yet counted to be against it to get it to fail.  Odds are stacked against ya...but it's still possible depending on where isn't counted yet.

lol.  I watched "Big Bang Theory", "Wings" & "Night Court" from my DVR while I had the race up on my laptop.  The pileup I had of Wings and Night Court along with normal around the house stuff was able to stave off from live TV from 5:30 til 10:30 when I called it a night.  We were thinking of renting Get Smart yesterday, but I was confident that we had enough shows backed up to last us the night.

@KP: Yeah, myself being from Indiana, I was really surprised and happy to see us turn Blue this year.  First time since the 1964 Election.  It's been my opinion that Indiana has been a winnable state before, but it kept up being a Fly-Over before.

Man, why'd I have to watch ABC last night?  Yes, Charlie Gibson is a much more likeable anchor than Wolfie, but CNN had holograms!

Yeah when they were working.......at one point it just fizzled out....the girl let out a little laugh before she caught herslef.

They were still cool though...

Loup, what's your video card?

KP, Indiana and Virginia both went Democratic for the first time since 1964 (LBJ).  Looks like NC is going blue as well, and MO is leaning red.

I have a new goal for TPM08:

Win 100% of the popular vote.

Yes, one hundred percent.

There needs to be a fucking achievement for THAT.

This is going to be interesting-I think I may need a custom candidate.

The simple approach is to use intimidators, but it becomes difficult to keep opponent awareness down sufficiently even on cakewalk, as he tends to toss ads out in a number of states, regardless of difficulty...near the end you could even be looking at 20+ intimidators just to keep all the states at 0 for him.  I will, however, try this way first, as it's certainly less difficult than convincing a few tens of millions of the other party to vote for me.

EDIT: It appears awareness has a minimum value of 5%.

Back to the drawing board-time to convince about 70 million people to vote for me when I'm running against their party.

Progress report: 86% for me, 1% undecided, 13% for my opponent.

This game is EPIC.

Sorry about triple posting, but, uhm...I take it everyone's asleep.  *sigh*
