Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

I think the SW prequels sucked because of Jar Jar

Ah, but that floppy-eared freak didn't have much of an appearance in #3, yet that one was still not good.  I would 110% agree with you for ep 1 though.

~shakes the forum~  Ok ignore this post.  My reply above didn't show, neither did an addition to page 70 appear.  So I leave with with a :wulf:

~Lucas had originally planned 9 movies.
He should have stopped after making 3-6....the movies for 1-3 were terrible.
End of KzintiPatriarch's quote

Yeah, and I don't even know anyone who's actually seen Clone Wars (/shudder).  It's kind of sad when the long time fans won't even touch a movie (and I definitely consider myself a long time fan.  I had read all of the novels until the Yuuzhan Vong started trashing everything, and I tried getting into those too, but couldn't keep up with the pace they came out.  I turned my back for a second, and all of a sudded the number of Star Wars novels essentially doubled or tripled.)

If you get a chance, though, I would highly recommend reading the novelization of Revenge of the Sith.  Does a much better job of telling the story than the movie did.

yea, Vegjed definitely beat me here but I'm gonna second that the novelizations of the prequeals are far superior than the actual movies; that being said, I actually felt kinda bad for natalie portman, in III she really didnt do that bad of a job- everything considered; and Lucas cut almost all of her exclusive scenes in both II and III that let her shine.

though, lucas was never a great director anyhow; i mean, the perfect Han Solo line is in V, his "I know" in response to Leia, and Lucas hated it (cuz its not what he wrote); V and VI werent directed by Lucas and we can all agree that we are the better for it :-)

anyhow. also on DnD; if they do ever come out with a good computer/online version; hit me up, i think i'd like to learn and get in on the fun :-)

Ok KzintiPatriarch got a question or maybe a request actually.

My mod of course has the Kzinti Hegemony in it per the Star Fleet Universe.  The name of the Patriarch is Hraak-Riit.

Now this is what I need.  A minor race in the mod is the WYN Cluster.  About 115 years after the Vulcans made contact with Humanity there was a Kzinti Duke that made an attempt to to see the Patriarch's throne.  He failed and led his fellow survivors into the WYN Cluster which is concealed in a radioactive cloud, believed to impossible to survive.  When they did and found a world with rich resources.  Later Lyrans who failed in a similar civil war also found the WYN Cluster.  Despite racial hatred the two managed to get along.  Soon the WYN cluster became a safe haven for renegades of many races.

I want a Kzinti to be the leader of the WYN cluster.  I need a name.

EDIT:  I've just been told his name is: Cat with Favorable Stars.  Wonder how you say that in Kzin.

Hmmm...  If he was a Duke then that probably indicates a member of the Imperial family, so the patronym would be Riit.  Also, gughgb (dont ask me how to pronounce that!) means star, and k'todu means favor.  Put those three words in some sort of combination and you'll have something approximating the name.

Kzinti wouldnt call themselves cats, as they are not of Terran origin and therefore not related at all to felines.  A noble kzin would refer to himself by his title, or more generically, simply as a kzin (any kzinti), kzintosh (male kzinti), or t'kzintar (warrior kzinti).  The word for cat is k'teek.

what about females?

kzinti females aren't sentient; i don't know for sure, but i imagine that means they lack speech.

True but WYN is a group of many races so cat may have become acceptable.  So how about:  K'teek K'todu-Gughgb.  That's a mouthful.

They were gengineered into sub-sentience, and can't speak the Heroes Tongue, but can usually speak a few words in a language best described as"pidgin" Kzinti.

Sounds good, and unpronouncable by humans!

I'm finishing up my latest Swindle game, and I'll defintely be breaking 600k this time (huge all-abundant map).  For the first time I built a maxed-out starbase array, and I also gut an economic boom during year 3.  I usally build my starbase array for only 1 weapon type, but decided to bite the bullet and add every ship-assist module this time.

It's not that they are not sentient, they just aren't all that intelligent and have only basic verbal skills, and yes, they were engineered that way - and this wasn't done that long ago.

I could expand further, but IIRC KP hasn't read Destiny's Forge, and MASSIVE SPOILERS would result.

Perhaps semi-sentience would be a better way to put it.  I really need to get that book...thanks for reminding me Willy! :)

Make sure to get M-K Wars 10 and 11 if you can. Both contain some useful information. If you have read all four Ringworld books, be prepared for the same type of change-everything-you-thought-you-knew experience. Expect storyline tie-ins from any direction.

Food for thought: how exactly would a species like the Pak evolve, with such an extreme anti-mutation mechanism?

And apparently M-K Wars 12 is out, or will be out shortly. Which is odd, because Barnes and Noble list Destiny's Forge as M-K Wars 14 o_O

Does Neilo hate them too? ;)

Just submitted my Torian game.  A few lessons learned, but no tactics to add to my arsenal.  Proving tactics that are not so good has its value though.
