Kzinti Empire - offical empire thread

You have dared to enter the lair of the most ferocious predators in the galaxy!

It is the ulitmate destiny of the Kzinti to conquer the other civilizations of the galaxy, subjugate and enslave any who may prove useful to us, and devour the rest. The Fanged God has ordained that this is how it will be.

In just 26 octals of days (7 months or so...Kzinti count in base 8), the Kzinti Empire rose from obscurity, to #1 on the Metaverse. With the blessings of the Fanged God, we have remained dominant for 100s more octals of days since that auspicious day.  We leapt past the other empires, and our mighty domain now encompasses over 32 million more light years than the second most powerful empire.  The most recent Galactic Map data shows that we have subjugated over 45% of the galaxy.  Many warriors from the old and dying empires have joined us, to avoid being eaten along with the rest.  We hunger to establish indefinite supremacy over all the inferior sentient species...

We have also been #1 on the AltMeta for over 3 years running. The Empire grows more powerful with each passing day as new conquests are won, and more warriors join us in our inevitable rise to rule the galaxy!

The Kzinti are a species of bipedal space-faring feline predators, who love nothing more than conquest and battle. Created by sci-fi writer Larry Niven, the Kzinti have had many stories written about them, most notably in the Man-Kzin Wars series of books. They have also shown up in the Star Trek universe, and a number of other realities.

"Kzinti flesh has a very strong and pungent taste. The weak among us are devoured by their litter-mates within a few moons of birthing. Only the swiftest and most ferocious of us survive to their first naming-day. Those not fit to survive will never live to perpetuate their inferior bloodlines. This is the natural law of the galaxy." - Kzinti Warrior

kzin6

"The meaning of life is the hot blood of your prey on your tongue, the meat that rends beneath your teeth, the corpse of your enemy left in the sun for the carrion eaters to finish, your defeated foe groveling in submission before you. That is what life is. We are the Kzinti, and we stronger, swifter, wiser, and more ferocious than any other race ever was or will be." - Kzinti philosopher

If your claws can grasp it, then it is rightfully yours. - Kzinti proverb

A salute to all those heroic t'kzintar who have made this empire a resounding success. Our conquests continue and the galaxy will never know peace!

It's already a personal record for me. I haven't tested the score recently, but it should reach the 900k + mark if I can just keep the CPU and video card from frying.

You will be among the mightiest of Conquest Heores with this victory Motti! The Kzinti Empire is honored by your diabolical efforts. :D

The fact that this high scoring game is not for the ToE has not gone unnoticed MottiKhan.
End of quote

It's completely obvious that Motti's evil is too potent to be contained by just one evil empire! What's more evil than an demonic Kzinti? And no, dont bring up the thrice-damned clones...

I'll find him and just before I leave him tied above a boiling vat of acid and wander off laughing, I'll explain my whole evil plan to him! That'll show him!
End of quote

Ah, the classic "bad-guy soliloquy" mistake. We joke a lot about that in my D&D group... Anyone ever see the movie "Gamers"?

How does that make you feel Motti that the bounty on KP's head is 10,000x as much as yours?
End of quote

I am honored beyond words.... My reward is enough to buy small galaxies twice over!

Out of curiosity Motti, which hardware (processor, memory) are you using for such gigantic galaxies?

Recently I "discovered" AltMeta. It really allows players to rise quickly through the ranks of some categories.
Some ZYW got me into the top 10 for Solar - CIV.
The current MVL round caused me to rise to top 5 in Galactic - CIV and by the end of the round I should be in the third spot.

The AltMeta is great for a bunch of reasons. The main one of course that it is a more accurate measure of recent MV activity. But I also love the special rankings, empire statistics, and graphs that track every submitted game. I look at it more than the "real" MV. Though with just one more game with one of my characters, I'll have all 3 of them in the top 25 of the MV. :D

Actually, it's my first gigantic map. The processor is an Intel P4-940. It's an older dual core operating at 3.2 GHZ. I don't remember the brand name of the memory, but it's matched for speed. The graphics card plays a big role in gaming ability too. It's an ATI X1950Pro.

I built the computer to do distributed computing projects for lifescience projects(trying to help find cures for cancer, AIDS, malaria, etc.), but later diverted its use to more important ventures, such as GalCiv2.  :HOT:

Getting close to 100 games now with my secondary character, thanks to the ZYWs.

I only got one turn done on my game last night. Another turn barely started. That was about 3 hours of effort. I'll try to get the one turn that I started done tonight. Probably a couple of hours for that.

The game has slown to a crawl because I'm doing several changes in preparation for the end game. My planets are being converted to a mix of Econ and Labs. I have a group of 500 fighters to upgrade now that my economy can handle it without much distraction. The upgrade will take two steps, costing about 500k each on the longest term loans . Then the slider goes to 100% Research for the end game "sprint".

It's been a long, hard haul, but the end is in sight. The verdict of success, failure or something in between should be posted to the MV before this weekend.  :)

The Empire is waiting in great anticipation for the final reports of your conquest MottiKhan. Preliminary intelligence reports indicate that it will be the greatest conquest in the history of the Kzinti! You will earn a place of great honor among our mightiest Conquest Heroes, and we eagerly await the great bounty of slaves and plunder that will flow into the Empire from this victory. May the Fanged God favor you always!

I completed my 100th game for my secondary character today, and by the weekend when I complete another huge game for my third character, I should have all my characters in the top 25. :D

so it seems that I haven't made fun of you in a while KP. Luckily for you, its too early in the morning for me to be witty.

On a different note...and kinda sad too in a way...I have formally broken ties with the Tyranny of Evil so that I can focus solely on the Olympian Gods. They will always be my comrades in arms, but I couldn't continue to walk the Path of Evil.

Looks like I have some work to accomplish this summer.

Unfortunately, I've been getting exception errors since the night before last. I've been in troubleshooting mode since then and haven't gotten a turn to successfully complete. I think I know what the problem is, but it'll take a while to fix.

I think I have too many ships of one particular type built (16,999 ships), but only if you also count those in the build queue that don't have starports (about 300). (Those that won't respond to the governors). To make a long story short, I need to go back and rebuild my starports, change the build queues, build back over my starports and then try the ship upgrade again.

While I'm doing that, I have other ships I can upgrade to continue to boost my military.

This will set me back quite a bit, since there are probably about 300 affected planets and each starport will have to be bought, now that I don't have any factories left.

I'll continue to troubleshoot it, but hope that this next attempt at a fix will work.

What type of game is a ZYW? I've searched the forums and can't find any info.

Thanks.

a ZYW is shorthand for a zero year win, but a particular type of ZYW is what is generally being discussed. It is a conquest victory using certain strategies to quickly decimate the enemy for quick AltMeta points and adding Bling (medals) to your profiles. They are not generally as good for raising through the actual MV ranks.
Hey Ragnar1! :) The forum search is still screwed up, so its not that helpful. ZYW means Zero Year Win, which can be achieved on a tiny map, with one opponent, at any difficulty level. Check out the thread MVL Round 6, pages 13-15 and you can find the basics there of how it is done. If you want more detailed tactics, send me a PM, or I can just post the info here on our thread.

Ugh...what a hassle! I admire your tolerance for all the hardships you've gone through with this particular game. I dont think I would be as patient. ;)

@ KP, SB: Thanks guys. I'm hitting my self in the head now. I've seen some discussion on the Zero Year Win, over in the 'Year zero club' thread, but I didn't put 2+2 together. I may try that later to get some more bling. Personally, I prefer the big epic games where I can get most of the way through the tech tree.

BTW: I should finally finish another win on a large for the Kzinti empire tonight.
:HOT:

After the win, I might actually upgrade my version and purchase the expansions.

Neilo still holds the record for a ZYW at 32,950, and I've scored close to that a half-dozen times, but not surpassed it....yet.

Welcome to our newest member Jenkas! May your foes always be delicious! ;)

I broke Neilo's ZYW record, with a 33,250 score! My reign may be brief, but I'm the champ at the moment. :)

Well done KP. Your reign will be long enough. i have a giga i am attending to atm, when im not playing the PS3....

I think we are pushing the boundaries of a ZYW. I do think that a 35K game is possible but beyond that im not sure what could bring a higher score.

OK step one completed: New empire bling to counteract Kzinti dominance

Step Two: Get more medals than Neilo....

hey KP, what do you think about an Emperor's Club, a private back-room filled with cigar smoke and the smell of brandy, where us leaders can chat, throw insults, discuss MV issues, things like that?

I'm sure Neilo would love to set something up over at the ToE. He's sposed to be upgrading to his own domain sometime in the next month.

The font is a bit indistinct, but it could be due to my sucky non-gaming computer here at work. ;)

"Emperor's Club" makes me think of Eliott Spitzer.    Seriously, we should discuss the possibility of something, but I'll pass on the cigar smoke. With the MVC seemingly in a permantly moribund state, it would be nice to have some sort of group or organization. I generally prefer to keep as much discussion/interaction here at the main site so the activity is visible to the entire GalCiv community, but we could talk about that too.

I know we have had our differences... mostly when we invaded one anothers planets. We couldn't quiet get the hang of the human problem solver of 'paper, scissors, rock'. so we just shot eachother. But hey there is a first for everything. Wanna be friends?
