Galactic event help

How can I turn one off?

Hey guys, I bought Galciv2: DL about a week ago. So far, I think it is a great game. One thing is really bugging me though. Every once in a while, I will get this event that causes all uncolonized planets within a certain radius to become PQ 10. I like to play on tiny or small maps, because I just don't have the attention span for the bigger ones, and when this happens it triples the amount of habitable planets on the map. Is there a way to turn this event off? I looked in the options and couldn't find anything about galactic events, and I checked out the modding guide, and didn't see anything there. I really don't like this event, and every time I get it I have to load an autosave. I sometimes lose 15 to 20 minutes worth of real time because I have to redo all the stuff I just did the past several turns. Help me find a way to get rid of this event, please.

Well the events are meant to throw you off course. Maybe try playing one of the events. You will probably save time you would have lost replaying anyway.

Hi!
You must be an incredibly lucky person to actually complain about that event. In ALL my games I played I had it maybe three times, and IIRC only once a "+10 levels" one.

AFAIK such an event can be disabled only by hacking the exe, because it is hard-coded.

You can manage this, even though it's a bit of a kludge. As soon as you get the event, reload your last autosave. You lose the progress since then, but the event will not automatically recur in the reloaded game.

I personally hate the "spies on every planet" event and the "limit of 5 speed" event, and almost always reload when they occur. Both of these make the game so boring to me that I'd rather not handle them. I also keep my autosave relatively low (every 5 turns), so as to minimize the loss.

It would be great to be able to select which random events are possible: an option list that permits us to check off those events that we are willing to suffer.
