TA Beta 2 A Making today or pushed to tomorrow???? UPDATED TODAY!!!

Will the TA Bata 2 release be today or has that been pushed back, it seems there has been some hesitation to respond to this question? I just would like to know if it is worth me to keep checking stardock central for the update or just continue to play beta 1a? Thank you in advance for your response.

Okay that was for that post see bottom for todays scheduled release of TABeta 2A.

I don't know the answer to that question. I would say later today, but I have no power over when the next beta is going to be released.

We've had some bad luck where, whenever we say 'It's coming out today' the servers crash and burn.

Let's jsut say 'the Beta is on track with it's arformentoned release schedule'    Let's see if the 'Server Gods' are easilly fooled.

Thank you for the response. That will answer my question as good as can be expected.

This might be too much but, could you also give us an updated time line on both options for release both on the idea of the december and January/February release. Thank you.

By no chance you could switch over to working GMT times? That way, the Beta would be finished about 6 hours earlier. And I could still get some sleep tonight.

So it looks like it's pushed back?

I dont care, do what you need to do. I can wait for more beta goodness. I even send a prayer to the Server Gods... They own me one.

Yea, it's going to be tomorrow.

The Tournament code isn't talking to the servers right and people want to go home for some reason.

They want to go home?

Don't you guys have slave pits down there, or are you guys getting soft?
Hopefully you guys get to leave on time tomorrow and have a good full weekend.

Thanks for letting us know, so we're not just sitting here waiting for it See ya tomorrow afternoon

Slave pits? But Earth is now surrounded by some kind of shield so the Drengin couldn't conquer us.

Perhaps goto NASA, tell them to get off their lazy asses and build a new apollo rocket, goto the moon, switch off the precursor device generating that force shield so then the Drengin can conquer Earth, enslaving Stardock so they get the beta out sooner!

Yes, I am looking forward to how that story arc resolves itself.

The ending will be something like this.

"And Brad pushed the button. Then Lord Kona exploded."

I genuinely need you guys to come out with those other races! We I need more of a balance in my games, the Drengin keep on owning the Arceans and I!

I finished up writing the Korath stuff this morning.  If you think the Drengin are bad. The Korath are far worse.

At least the Drengin think slavery is okay.  The Korath have a way of converting the life force of sentient beings into usable dark energy.

They also have a seriously nasty planetary improvement that absorbs part of the biosphere, lowering planet quality but providing incredible amounts of production in return.

They also have the Dark Influence planetary improvement that tripples a planet's influence.

As you are probably figuring, all of the races are going to be somewhat more powerful than they were in Dark Avatar.

We also will have a surprise announcement in the coming weeks - a new game mechanic along with a new winnning condition will be introduced in Twilight.

Yeah, sorry guys   We can usually fix last minute bugs, but anything that's server related (such as the Tournament submissions) we're powerless to fix.

In the meantime, here's a pict of one of the new Korath improvements that you'll get to play with tomorrow when you research 'Dark Influence'.

Is it going to involve terror stars?

That is awesome! I don't usually play Korath Clan, but looks like I will have to give it a go now.

You know this is almost starting to look entirely as a new game. GALCIV2 has sure changed a whole lot since it's release as DL. Most expansions that I've played are like DA, where as this expansion puts a whole new look on the game, which could dramatically change gameplay.

Oh yeah, any more pictures of tomorrows release? The first one was great please give us more

I bet the new condition has something to do with terror stars. I hope so anyway.

Also, I'm wondering, is it intentional that the Terrans skip from the one-damage directly to the three-damage weapons for mass drivers and lasers?

Your improvements look really cool outside the game. It's a shame they're so small in the actual game though, so you don't get to see as much detail as you see here. Maybe you could implement something like a 'more info' button for improvement types. When you click it it pops up the larger picture with the description. Total fluff but I think it would be cool.

Never mess with the Server Gods, for they are quite wrathful

Nothing wrong with that!

I'm actually thinking, given the wording of the statement, that the new victory condition will have something to do with the new game mechanic being introduced. Terror Stars, as bloody awesome as they are, aren't really anything "new" at this point (they were, after all, in GC1)... plus, a Terror Star Victory would probably be too close to a Conquest Victory, at least in anything I'm thinking it could involve (beyond, of course, the background story reason for their appearance).

I was thinking more as a 'manufacturing victory'. Make all the obscenely expensive parts for it on your production planets, and once constructed use it to instill 'terror' by destroying a number of star systems.

Got to agree there...the improvements look awesome on the forum posts because they're large images. It's really hard to see them in the actual game itself.

Yep, a real shame they're hard to see too. Tons of work obviously went into making the models and they totally deserve to be seen in hi-res in the game
