Downloaded Version 1.80d - Still can't load old saved games. Should I bother to start another game?

As noted by Cari elsewhere, some saves are too badly damaged to recover, while some can be rescued from the bug. Either way, it shouldn't happen on new games.

Oh geez. Well, just one interesting huge game chopped when things were getting rough late mid-game.

Hopefully GC2 + DA is playable again now!

Cari said the ship code is "complicated" .. How about balancing those species-specific tech trees? You'll be tweaking that for next two years.. At least there's no multiplayer!

Hi,

I also have the problem with a game that crashes immediately on load. It was a 1.8c game, I then updated to 1.8e and after that to 1.8f, but to no avail. I sent an a debug.err and the save game to [email protected] a week ago, but no answer so far. I would like to know whether the game is recoverable or not if that is possible.

As above, some damaged saves were fixable by the update; if they were, they'd be loadable in the latest version. Those that aren't are unfortunately just too corrupt to be corrected.
