Playing on a Medium Map as the Drengin because I love the thought of slave pits and being evil gives me a dark fuzzy feeling in my giblets…. Now where was i… ahh yes… more flesh incinerators!
The Story So Far…
The Drengin Empire along with the Arcean Empire and Terran Alliance had come to settle in a sector of previously unpopulated space, the Drengin in the south the Terran in the north and the Arceans had wound up in-between.

Numerous minor races those who had not received the hyerdrive technology before it was too late or decided they didn’t want to expand into the great dark unknown populated this particular sector of the galaxy. Unfortunately for them… the Drengin were expanding into their space and were finding their area of space quite devoid of empty worlds.
The Drengin had had some luck, a class 20 world had been found orbiting a purple star called Mormegil, several other planets had been found with old precursor artefacts littered around which made good research worlds but still with all that the Drengin empire only had 5 worlds in total and eyes soon turned towards their unsuspecting minor race neighbours.
Designs on a new warship the "Kona" class heavy figher were created and production began, the Kona was a very light warship using the only just researched laser technology, but it didn’t need to be heavily armed the minor races were generally not arming themselves for combat… their loss…

Within 3 months the Caranoids, Jussiens, Sinathi and Dark Yor had been subsumed into the Drengin Empire, Slavlings swelled the industrial might of the Empire and the Arcean and Terran Governments began to fear for their own safety.
The Drengin Empire now had 9 worlds, and 5 of those were class 15 or over. The minor race worlds were quickly covered in slave pits were the local population toiled away to create more warships, does my furry drengin sideburns proud to see such a delightful sight.

In a rush meeting Lord Vega met President Bradley on Earth to discuss the Drengin problem. It was decided that the Arcean Empire and Terran Alliance must strike before the Drengin were ready to attack, they had to be caught off balance.
The plan "almost" succeeded.
The Drengin Empire "was" caught off balance by the two other powers decleration of war, their own Kona Class heavy fighters were never meant to be used in war with the other two powers of the sector, just the minor races.
The Terrans Heavy fighters came in squadrons of 5, quite light armed but 5 on 2 were not good odds and the Terran heavy fighters won battle after battle.

The Arceans were using even less heavily armed warships mixed in with light escorts and even they were more than enough to brush aside the Kona Class.

Soon an invasion force of Arcean and Terran ships was heading stright for the Dark Yor system on the edges of Drengin space.
However the Drengin had not been lazy, on the old Dark Yor homeworld a new warship was taking shape, but with incoming enemy troop transports it was touch or go as to whether the new "Dregnar" class cruiser would be ready in time.
The Drengin rushed the construction, millions of slavlings died as the world was put into overdrive, the first Dregnar cruiser was ready just a week before 2 Arcean troop transports arrived with their escort of two groups of Arcean warships and a squadron of Terran fighters.
The following transmission was recovered after the failed invasion attempt from a drifting Terran Alliance fighter reovered by a Arcean freighter passing through the warzone.
++Transmission Start++
-red three do you have a lock on those Arcean fighters?
-negative too far out we need to get closer the gas giant is blocking the signal
-ok bring us around the third planet we should get visual then we can work out how to cover the transports as they hit ground
-roger that
-red two keep in formation
-roger red leader
-ok 20 seconds till we get visual
-wait… what’s that?
-its fairly big
-Arcean ships are engaging
-jesus its just carving through them
-the readings of that thing are off the chart, it doesn’t look like any of the Arceans shots are getting through.
-this is red leader of the terran alliance battlegroup red squadron to Arcean troop transports you need to disengage from the battle we have no idea what that thing is but you must disengage we will attempt to cover your retreat.
-ok red squadron form up we need to cover those transports
-red four and five swing around behind him try for any weak points the rest target those weapon systems
-nothings getting through!
-we’ve lost red four
-red five is down too
-our weapons are entirely ineffective against that thing and its just tearing us up!
-red two is dust
-damnit
-disengage from battle we can’ handle that thing
-this is commander Ugole of the terran alliance red battleground call sign red three. Red squadron has been entirely wiped out, the whole invasion force has… by that one Drengin cruiser. It chased down the Arcean transports and took out their propulsion… boarded soon after… taking captives I guess. Don’t think they noticed me… engines are gone life support is critical I’ve got some information on the enemy cruiser which im forwarding with this transmission, if anyone gets this then at least there might be some hope…

The Dregnar could face off against whole squadrons of lesser ships it was the most powerful ship in the sector, the war which had looked bad for the Drengin quickly turned.

(the reason it WAS so powerful is because I had researched particle and ion lasers and realised that it hadn’t actually given me any weapons!, so I had to rush research disrupters or the dregnar would have been using laser 5's!)
Hestia an Arcean world on the boarder between Drengin and Arcean space fell to Drengin shock troops a few weeks after the first failed invasion.
As more and more Dregnar warships launched from Drengin worlds the Arcean and Terran navies were crushed time and time again, nothing they had could stand a chance against the Dregnar.

That didn’t mean that the Terran Alliance and Arcean Empire were about to give up, fortunately for them the Drengin empire had not really managed to recouperate after taking the minor race worlds, few of their planets had enough shock troops to fill transports, Hestia had fallen but it would be a while before the Drengin could call up enough ground troops to start full scale invasions.
(my economy supporting the Dregnar cruisers was kinda shot, i couldn’t 100% happy my worlds for an increase in pop because I was in the negative from rush buying the first Dregnar cruiser and I needed my population to grow for more a more stable income)
So more fleets were put together in an attempt to manoeuvre around the Dregnar cruisers which prowled the boarder between Arcean and Drengin space, several transports "almost" made it through. The Dregnar cruisers while powerful were few in number and the Arcean and Terran forces kept coming.
