Bug trading techs

It sounds like you're still running Beta 1.  Update to the latest version on Stardock Central.  Also, please check out the sticky threads about how to submit beta reports, and which bugs have already been reported, and the ones that have been fixed.

 

I've been seeing this same kind of error when trading techs, for each of the three games I've tried to play so far. Twice it has happened when trying to trade with Arceans for Interstellar Navigation, if that has anything to do with it. According to Kryo in this thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/?forumid=421&aid=166696#1350827 I now have the proper versions loaded, but I'm not seeing anything telling me I'm running Beta 1A, it only says Beta 1. Stardock Central is not showing any later updates available from what I have.

I have the same issue. I thought this version was supposed to fix crashes during tech trading. According to SDC, I have the latest versions. Yet, I crash regularly on trading techs. I can't tell if I just have a bogus version or if there is no fix regarding tech trading. I crash just as often as the first version released.

One thing I've noticed, is that often I can change the results of certain techs causing a crash. For instance, if tech "A" caused it, and it was the first one I chose to trade, then sometimes if I choose tech "B" first and afterwards choose tech "A" it goes through without the crash.

Of note was my install process for this latest version. In SDC I selected to download and archive, then to restore that archive. This consistently stuck in a loop. It would get to like 12% installed, then jump back to 9% and just keep looping forever. So I cancel, redownload, wash, rinse, repeat. I uninstall the old version, same thing. Reboot... Nothing would get that to work. So I gave up on that method and just hit the install button next to the file and it took the first time. Maybe I've got a corrupt install. I wouldn't know. It was fully uninstalled at the time when it finally did install.

I'm uninstalling/reinstalling just for kicks, to see if that changes anything at this point. I'll post the results.

At this point, the exact same thing with the 'restore archive' option. Infinite loop. And that archive was downloaded no less seven times, all with the same result. And yes, it was uninstalled first.


So I click the install button. And it works fine.

I'm guessing that tech trading will not be changed and will continue to crash regularly. I'll get back on that.

And yes, I still crash trading techs. So, as with the OP, I still have the problem. And it was a freshly started game.
