Warp Bubbles ???? TA beta1 v1.8c

First of all I know there post questioning the warp bubbles being available right away however, as the following picture shows the that the ultimate warp bubble adds +3pc to fleet. However, this by itself moves 5pc a week which it has no engines so it should only move 2pc a week.

It appears it is only affecting each ship not making it go faster if in a fleet. I supose this could be by design that if it was with other slower ships that it would allow them to move faster in the fleet I haven't tried that one.

it's in a fleet of one ship^^ i guess it's better that way if when the ship was alone it stopped having the bonus it could be a problem.

I was just coming here to report the existence of Advanced Warp Bubble Projectors, Ultimate Warp Bubble Projectors, and Battle Command Centers at the very start of a Terran game. I saw your thread, but I can't find the thread you referenced (nothing named like it and Search doesn't find it). Anyway, all three items show up in the Shipyard under the Modules | Advanced tab right at the beginning of the game.

If you fleet it with a bunch of ships with no engines, the entire fleet will move at 5pc a week. AKA you need to figure out what the speed of the slowest ship in the fleet moves at and then add 3 to that to get the new fleet movement value. There is no reason for having more than one warp bubble per fleet. At least this is how it is working in my Arcean game.

In related Terran module glitchiness, the Sensor Array is not properly limited to one per ship, which results in some REALLY good scout ships...

EDIT: Also, the Integrity Grid does not seem to show up in the list of modules after being researched (It's also missing a space in the tech description).

To clarify how warp bubbles and similar fleet-speed-enhancing (FSE) modules work:

If the ship is by itself, it will get the speed bonus + its base speed.

If the ship is in a fleet, the best FSE module in the fleet becomes the active FSE ship.  The movement points for this ship are ignored when calculating the fleet speed.  So, the fleet's moves will be based off of the ship with the least moves in the fleet (not counting the active FSE ship) plus the FSE bonus.

For example:

Ship A ( 4 moves )
Ship B ( 2 moves + 1 FSE )
Ship C ( 5 moves )
Ship D ( 1 move + 2 FSE )

If all of these ships are fleeted together, the fleet would have 4 moves.  This is because ship D has the highest FSE bonus, so it is not considered when getting the ship with the least moves.  The ship with the least moves is Ship B with 2 moves.  Even though it has 1 FSE, this does not matter because the FSE is not active.  So the fleet will move 4 moves.  This is 2 moves (slowest ship) + 2 FSE (from active FSE ship D)

As soon as you remove ship D (or ship D is killed in battle), the fleet will have 5 moves.  This is because the active FSE ship is now ship B so it is not considered for the least amt of moves.  The slowest ship now is Ship A which has 4 moves.  The fleet gets 4 moves (slowest ship) + 1 move (from active FSE ship A) for a total of 5 moves.

This is the intended behavior.  If you notice this is not happening, please let us know.

If I understand correctly, this fleet would have move 14?

Ship A ( 14 moves )
Ship B ( 12 moves + 1 FSE )
Ship C ( 15 moves )
Ship D ( 1 move + 2 FSE )

Yes

Purge, you are correct.

If you remove ship B, you'd get 16 moves.

Thank you!

I wanted to make sure before I start planning command vessels with no engines for later stages of the game.

So theoretically a huge ship with no engines and a + 2 fleet warp bubble could fleet with a tiny ship with a speed of 12 and then the huge ship would suddenly be able to travel at a speed of 14? Doesn't that seem a bit odd?

I don't see it that way, although you would in theory of course think it would have to slow down a little to incompass the larger vessel.

Kudos to the developer of this. I had a blast last night trying out this new feature. Just before the release of TA, I was wishing for wormwholes or some other way to get very fast ships for large maps. This fits the bill much nicer.
