If you don't have SmartException installed, please install it from Stardock Central's free stuff tab and have it running with GalCiv2 crashes. To e-mail in the crash report, right click on the SmartException icon in the systray and choose Configure. Select the most recent crash from the list and press the E-mail Exception button.
If you're having problems with installing GalCiv2 or with Stardock Central, or if the game won't start at all, please e-mail support@stardock.com or use the chat client in Stardock Central to ask for help on irc.stardock.com. If no one is around in the default chat channel, type /join #stardock to see if anyone is there. You can change your nick from the default by typing /nick NewNick. Do not e-mail beta bug reports to support@stardock.com.
Please do not use mods while beta testing as we want to make sure that any issues reported are not caused by mods.
Please continue to e-mail crash logs to gc2bugs@stardock.com along with any relevant screenshots (in compressed jpegs) and save games (in zip or rar files). If you don't have SmartException installed, please install and run it from the Free Stuff tab in Stardock Central. Also please include your debug.err file, which can be found in My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor. If save games are not compressed, the mail server will probably corrupt them, so make sure that you compress them. Also, make sure to include a subject and text in the body of the e-mail so that you don't get blocked by the Spam filters. It also helps if you make the subject line descriptive of the problem so that I can spot reports about the same issue and close them all at once when I fix it. When submitting a crash log through SmartException, just add to the end of the subject line that it generates so that I can still get the crash address from the subject line; this helps me to identify crashes that are caused by the same code.
Please make sure that your debug.err file is included as an attachment rather than pasting them into the e-mail as it's quicker to read the report.
Please include a description of the problem including what was happening right before the bug was encountered, and link to any threads that you've created/replied to about the problem on the forums. If you're linking to your reply, make sure that you say which is your reply. Please be as detailed as possible when describing how to reproduce the error. If you can't reproduce the error from the save game, please be as detailed as possible in describing what was going on when the crash occurred: was it the end of the turn, what screens were up, etc..
Please make sure to specify what race you were playing, galaxy size, etc..
You may not get a personal response unless we ask for more information. I'll update this if I think of anything else that would help.
If you're not sure that what you're encountering is a bug, post here on the forums before sending in the report.
Thanks!
