Do I have the Right version or not

Ihave Galactic civil2 Dread lords gold edition with dark avatar exp when i start game in bottom left corner it says v1.5 this is the secound time I went to stardock to get updates or patches i read on one of this posting 1.7 is the one to get i tried this from the game updater I guess the menu on left side under games products purchase click is were you go for update right da thats what i did anyway. I'am playing about ten games I would like to start this one again. Iam lost here on what update and patches needed for stable game thank you ps step by step for dummies.thank you again. knightMagic.

That sounds like you are running the Dread Lords game not the Dark Avatar version!
When you load the game launch interface click the 'Switch Chapter' button at the bottom and the interface should change to the Dark Avatar design. Now click 'Play the Game' and you should launch into DA not DL. Current version for DA is 1.80c (updated today).

You should be at 1.8c. A new patch was just recently released to fix a few bugs.
