Stardock Central Problems: Downloading Updates

Hey,

I am having trouble downloading the update for Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar. I have good internet connection, and i have entered my information several times. When I click the update button It sends me to the web browser and the purchase area of this site. Sometimes it gives me an error message that says that it needs to debug the program or close out of it. I have the game, but it won't update.

That right there indicates that you don't have DA and/or GC2 properly registered. Go to tools menu->register products, pick the games section at left, and find GC2 and DA in the product list and make sure your serial(s) are entered for both.

I got an error message, it says that- The instruction at "0x77c41995" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
I haven't clicked anything yet, I'm wating for a reply.

Oh, the title of the error is sdcentral.exe-Application Error

Sounds like something's broken with your SDC install then as well. Try uninstalling it and getting the latest build from here.

I'm having weird issues as well. Since last night I've been unable to download the latest patch. It just fails. The game and expansion are fine, since that's how I installed them in the first place, with this existing install of SDC, so I have no idea what the hell is going on. Kinda frustrating. The error message is "The module you requested is no longer available". This is when I choose "Update Now" on the dialog that pops up telling me there's a patch.

Try just going to DA in the games section and updating manually.

Decided to humor you expecting it to fail...

It didn't. Thanks:)

Kyro,

I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it, but now I can't even update the Galactic Civilizations II game! It doesn't say anything next to the game, and it says purchase next to all the others. The game is under purchased software, but it says purchase! HELP!!!

Try checking the registration as in my reply above now. If the reinstall fixed SDC you should be able to get in there to check/fix that now.

Okay, I am having issues now myself. Tried to update DA through StarDock Central and got an error message about could not verify the serial number. So I went to re-enter my serial and it won't accept it.

At the startup screen I hit Update Serial and re-entered it. But that screen throws an error that says the Serial Number must a 35 digit number entered like: 12345-ABCDE-...

But I have my CD, the serial number is 28 characters, and I did the send me my serial numbers in email from SDC, and those are 28 characters.

So what now?

Thanks
Jarod
