Some Suggestions

Now that all the new stuff came out, Isn't it time to improve GC2's Graphics and Visual things?

What about Planet Bump Maps, when you can see the mountain's shadows in the planet, and better City Light maps, including better planet textures and more.

And diagonal rings for Gas Giants, Earth with more realistic view and clouds, and nice atmosphere.

All this new things, might make the game size a bit higher, but really worth it. I know there is a lot to work on with the new expansion, but don't you think that it will improve the gameplay a lot better? I also know that what you guys really want is to play the game and the story and all is what really matters, but think about other space strategy games, like Empire at War. And other games with space included, like BattleFront 2, and others that I don't think of at the moment, but others!

I am also willing to help with textures and backdrops stars, nebulae etc.

Let's hear others opinion.

Those things dont matter a whole lot to me, as I play 99% of the game zoomed out so that everything is an icon. Occasionally though, it is nice to zoom in and see all the pretty graphics. I'd prefer they make actual other improvements before graphics improvements, such as game-mechanics, interface, and AI.

Sentient species taste better... Sentient species taste better...

I thought DA was meant to be a primarily graphic improvement, what with updated textures that take less space, new unique ship models and sets for each race, etc...I'd rather they tweak the game mechanics more myself, mainly taking the suggestions we get on the forums here, such as the sliders situation.

If you zoom in REALLY close to Earth, you'll see clouds randomly moving about the atmosphere as the planet spins. If you zoom in REALLY close to an asteroid mine which is being built/upgraded, then you can see a tiny space miner hovering up and down above the largest asteroid and building on it while the smaller asteroids move around a bit as well. The stars actually light up the map and create shadows on ships, starbases and planets. All planets & stars actually spin and moons actually orbit. Ships in orbit around planets can actually be seen buzzing around them(occasionally colliding with moons, however). If this isn't great detailing, what is?

If there's any graphics that need improvement, it's the planetary invasion screen.

If you are looking for better planetary graphics, download LogicSequence's "High-Resolution Graphics Mod", found in the Galactic Library.

Hah, That's not what I mean Mistralok, believe me, and I got the idea of better textures when Dread Lords was first released. Everything is improved for me, and I myself got an high resolution mod. Too bad it didn't get as much as downloads as Logic's but never mind, it was some time ago.

What I mean, is to make the game more realistic than it is. I mean, I already faced the fact the game is unrealistic, planets near their suns and other planets, rotation is really fast, so is the moon. So I'm not trying to get these things to disappear, I am trying to add some things that will make the game not realistic, but a little less unrealistic.

Other suggestions, if you have Asteroid bases, why not moon bases? And more than 1 moon that can go over a planet, be it smaller even.

Well,I hope it at least gets out in Galactic Civillizations 3

more race portrats / logos. Not mods so you can use them in the meteverse.

You do have automatic moon-based resources. They result in a 10% Production increase to the planet they orbit. There are ring resources as well - ringed planets supposedly get a 10% Research bonus, but I've heard that they don't work.

I don't know if i pay enough attention to the planet screen to notice 3D mountains or clouds. I'm pretty much looking at all the nice green squares. I really think time and effort could be better spent else where. Like Mr Vegetable said, on the suggestions we had in the other threads. can i repeat my ideas for more use for diplomacy..? i won't get this started as that kinda thread (but they were good ideas lol)

i like Seilore's idea of AI portraits. We see them many toimes a game and it might be nice to have more than one view. Like maybe one with the alteria girl looking like we just woke her up of someone on vacation somewhere or eating even. Ok maybe not funny ones but just a second view.

Oh, you guys all look at the screen maximized? Well, when I have nothing to do, (or when I want research to go faster) I scroll down to the planets so the game has less things to show me, and it works faster, weeks going faster, everything faster, so in that chance I also get to look at the Graphics.

But I normally play when you can see the planets.

What I mean in Moon Base, I don't know if you ever played Space Empires, but you can have moon bases there. A Moon base is like a huge rock land, with 1 colony there, and a shipyard, and another thing, not like an whole city... And they will indeed have there mining facilities which increase income or something.

And Hey! Planets with both Rings and moons, can be awesome.

I agree the game mechanics need to be improved. For example, the research mechanism. It should allow multiple researches to be conducted at the same time. Doing it one by one is really not realistic and practical anymore. In fact, it could probably be tweaked to the extend it allows planets to focused on certain area of research. For instance, planet with more trade centres, are better off with research on trade related topics than on say advance computing.
I really think it is time for the game mechanics especially the research mechanism be changed as it has not changed at all since the first generation of such turn-based game. Don't you all agree?

Glad to have a like minded friend out there. Maybe if more players felt the same way, Stardock might consider our suggestions . Hope change will come one day.

I would prefer, like others have said, that more focus (if not all of it) be put into other areas. For example I would love to see a lot more diplomacy options in this game. The research idea sound interesting too, as long as they could implement it without it getting too complicated.

Not to mention implement it without the tech tree going by even faster than it does already...

I hate how the research screen pops up every 20 seconds.
