Irritating Race Portrait Problem...

I've been having this problem for... uh... well it seems like forever, but I haven't always had it. Basically, when I talk to a race with a 'minor' race portrait, the portrait is stretched wide, except when it is shown during the United Planets.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about...

Notice how our usually thin Thalan offshoot friend has gained a few pounds. I'm not sure about you, but this hurts my eyes.

This also occurs when I first encounter a race using a 'minor' portrait and they say "Hello, we are the so and so's, etc." This does not occur when I use normal race portraits, such as the Terrans and the Korath.

I've tried tinkering with the resolution, but that doesn't seem to help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

That's because the portraits are in a different aspect ratio than the comm screen. The game stretches the portraits to fit the comm screen, there's no getting around it.

This is one thing that I really wish they'd fix. That and the Zero Grav Entertainment images. They are way too much like research centers. Seems like a simple enough thing to fix.

Well it's not a bug. Nor is it something that's an accident. So i don't know if fix is the right word.

Are you calling me fat?? Is that it? I'm not fat, I just have a big exoskeleton. So there.

The original game release did use that size of images for the trade screens if memory serves. When they updated the size later, some portraits didn't make the cut I guess. At any rate, stretching textures of that sort is generally considered a big don't. I would certainly hope that it is not intentional.
