The manufacturing capitol gives it's bonus to the world it is built on only, so each gets the bonus of their respective man. capitol.

One thing I like to do is wait a bit to conquer some of the minor civs until we both have Economic Capitals (and give them the Trade tech for free to encourage them to build one). I'm sure there are other duplicate civ-unique goodies that you can get if you have the luxury of patience, but manufacturing and economic capitals are the most common ones that I've seen.

Wouldn't this qualify as one of those exploits that has been since the original game? You should have the option of keeping your old capital building or choosing the one you conquered.

Or if you conquer an enemy planet with a capital, it should be a lesser capital with less benefits.

No, I think it is fine the way it is, not an exploit. As your empire grows, it makes perfect sense that there could/should be multiple "capitals," sort of like the Roman
Empire with both Rome and Byzantium, or the U.S. with multiple manufacturing or technology "centers." In GalCiv, the planet you have conquered has built the infrastructure to give the bonus, and you are simply taking them over and integrating them into your empire.

It is actually a strategy for some to encourage and help the AIs to build things like the Hyperion shrinker or other "one a civ" wonders before capturing them for yourself. It's the neighborly thing to do

It's also a good strategy to identify the worlds with your enemy's high value assets (capitals, trade goods, etc) and target them first. Get his economic, manufacturing, and research capitals as well as his mining starbases in the first few turns of the war and he's in a world of hurt.

The point is, you have to decide which planet is to be the capital. Where is the sense in having five capitals in one nation?

And the man.cap. only gives ยด+33% production, if I remember correctly.

Theres nothing wrong with multiple capitals in a nation. Look at the U.S., we have 50!
