Did they say in that article that TA is going to have upgraded graphics?
I think you just lost me as potential buyer.

But...we have a guy working his butt off on new textures, ship models, and a new UI     They're not just being facetious, the graphics really will be improved

I don't get how this is a bad thing. If your computer can't handle it you could always scale down the graphics.

Finally, Stardock is attempting to make the game look better by upgrading all of game's textures. It's a pretty clear upgrade from GalCiv II when you see the units side by side. While it's not going to win any awards for visuals because of the improvements, it's a welcome addition.

Hey, how about some of these side-by-side screenshots he's talking about

I just pre-ordered, this article was a nice reminder. And let this hard working person rest from time to time. Especially important if he should refuse.

I think its great that you're improving the graphics. So to the guy working his butt off thanks . I know how long this type of enhancement can take and appreciate the effort.

As far as graphics go, the graphics for this game are pretty, er, pretty already. What I'd like would be for that evil robot render to get fixed...that three-armed, evil robot newscaster with an odd clipping...

Oh well, that can wait. *chuckle* Good to hear about TA through the previews!

They ruined the campaign

As long as the graphics will always be scaleable to lower degrees, it's not a loss. One day we may actually upgrade!

So....Twilight of the Arnor doesn't even have the Arnor as a race? For shame stardock, I would just put them in there to keep face.

Hmmm....

"Adding to the complexity sure to arise in a game as large as that comes the knowledge that every one of the 12 factions will have their own unique tech trees for the first time. While some ubiquitous techs like trade will be shared, the tech trees will have technologies that fit each civilization including different types of weapons, engines, and planet improvements. It also means the inclusion of more new unit types that weren't available in previous GalCiv games"

I've only been playing 2 weeks, but I'm unsure what to make of this....

If they're saying that weapons are going to be unique... how in the heck are they going to do that when there's only 3 types of weapons to begin with??? What... a 'special' version of Beam per race???.... sounds whack.... really curious to see what this is going to be about.

This sounds like it might completely upset the solid 'balance' they've already got going.... this is puzzling and a lil scary to think about.

I mean.. yeah, when one is playing an RTS, ideally in todays world, one expects each race in the game to be completely unique from the other races... but in a 4x strat (even though I am a noob in this area of game), it seems that in order for the game to be properly balanced, all races need to have access to the same core, 75% of the techs...?... no?

The new galaxy size sounds sick... and I'm curious to see how they've improved on the textures... I have a 6800 128/MB 12 pipelines... and I can run the game maxed out in 1280x1024 on the biggest galaxy... it'll lost 10-15 frames with mid zoom on the biggest map, but plays fine..

I wonder if these better textures are going to be a problem for my old card on this new, INSANE map size... that or it simply might be too much for my lil 'ol 3200 AMD processor. The processor is obviously my weak link, but anyways....

can't wait to see how they're going to implement these new 'techs'....
