Xeno Ethics has been that way for a while. I research "Xeno Ethics" every game I play (with a few exceptions). I would be surprised if it didn't happen.

Is it a bug? I don't know, but there are other things I'm much rather have fixed, such as including a fortify ( or hold position) command for ships.

Ah. A documented bug is a feature. Use this to buy something very expensive like a wonder or upgrading a bunch of ships just prior to completing the tech. There's a silver lining in every cloud.

I checked this out and it turns out that due to logic bug, your negative treasury balance is being converted to a lease.

I've fixed this for the next update.

So it really wasn't wiping out the negative balance, just refinancing it as a lease? Thats evil, you should only get that if you DONT choose evil...

Here I thought that was intentional. Paying off what you could, then taking a loan out for the rest. So you are looking to change it so that if you don't have enough, you just get a lease for it and your treasury stays put? That'll cost more money in the long run...

That's how it was supposed to work. But if you had a negative balance, it wasn't doing that.  It subtracted the cost of the change from your current treasury balance (which made a larger negative balance), made that the amount of the lease, and then set your treasury balance to zero.  Which essentially just meant that you'd be paying 10 bc per month for longer than you would if you had started with a zero balance.  If you were making a change where the cost was actually zero, you sould still get a lease because it would convert your debt to the lease.

So now it checks to see if your balance is positive before it subtracts the cost of the lease, so that it only creates the lease for the debt created by the change rather than rolling in your debt as well.

It might be an interesting feature in the future to let you get a loan to get rid of your debt, but that's not the intention of Xeno Ethics.

Ahhh, I misunderstood the situation.

BTW Right now Xeno Ethics is a no interest loan, unlike every other form of borrowing in the game. Perhaps this should change?

I depended on that Xeno Ethics treasury bug for my early game for a long time.
