Custom Race Logo...?

i hav a custom logo on galciv2, the logo is a red triangle with a black background, but when i use the logo in the game it uses the full square (128 x 128), how can i make the logo be JUST the triangle and not the entire square???(sory for the difficut choice of wording)

Set black as the transparent color.

Set black as the transparent color.

Close, but no cigar.

You need to select the black background in an image editor, and set that to the image's alpha layer (It's the alpha layer that determines transparancy), OR you need to select the triangle, and completely delete the black background and set it on a transparent background. Either way you're essentially doing the same thing.

so how would i mak the background a transparent background? (or mak an alpha layer?)

What graphics program are you using? Most modern ones will allow you to draw on a transparent canvas (usually represented by a checkered background). If you can do that, all you need to do is draw a triangle on a transparent canvas and save it as a 24-bit PNG.

That's your problem then (mspaint doesn't support transparency of any kind, even paletted, IIRC).

Get Paint.Net it's an open source graphics program meant to replace Paint. It handles transparency and layers.

One of the best computer decisions I ever made was getting a scanner that came with a limited copy of Adobe Photoshop (which I upgraded to the full version). It was a chunk of change, but I've never regretted it.

Another program that you can use is Paint Shop Pro, originally made by JASC - if you can find an older version before Corel aquired it.

I use version 7.02, which was still a free version. It does transparencies and supports filters and such (such as Adobe Photoshop filters and effects, as well as it's own built in effects), and I created my own logo with it.

Options abound in the shareware and freeware arena.

Photoshop is nice, but I have always preferred the Corel applications.
CorelDRAW!, which comes bundled with Corel Photo-Paint, is my choice.
It is much cheaper and does much the same thing as Illustrator and Photoshop.

Sorry i didn't get back sooner, but Kryo and the others have said everything i could have. You need a better image editor than paint .

Filters, Plugins, dropdown menus have plenty of geometric corrections even in a recent Corel product.

RTFM & help files provided.

Select & apply.

Etc.

I use PSP 7.02 as well. A very good program.

Make your image, then do a 'Save As'. Depending on the save format, you will be able to choose a transparent color in the options.

Are you sure you cant do it in paint as i am sure i managed to get something transparant for another game.

Paint will not save anything transparent, except maybe a *.gif.  Don't quote me on that though, I even when I used to use Paint I never saved anything as *.gif.
