[Edit] Changed thread title to something more fitting for an ongoing thread with various "re-imagined" Gal Civ subjects.


Not designing ships this time...I thought some people might get a kick out of this project I started like a billion years ago, and just took out of mothballs to use to get the hang of the new edition of Zbrush. It's a "re-imagined" Drengin "Shogun"...I wanted to make the Drengin more imposing looking to better suit their position as intergalactic heavies. I need to give him a "paintjob" and do the fine detailing work yet. I'll put the finished version up when it's done.

Bingjack will hate me for saying this, but you haven't seen anything. He can spit this stuff out at will. I wont post any of his other little projects because he would kill me, but the man has mad skills. Unfortunately he is one of those artists who constantly thinks his work can be better, and constantly criticizes his own work. I am not sure how his work would translate into animation, I am no artist, but at the very least Stardock should talk to him about some promotional pieces. His stuff Rocks!

Also nothing wrong in acknowledging your own wonderful talents.

All I can say for what you have shown here is...
wow.

That paint job is superb. You certainly have an eye for colors, contrast and shading.

Stardock could hire you for the modeling along with some good animators and make a great GalCiv2 feature film. Add in a good writing staff, it could be the next really big box office scifi hit.

I find myself with the time and inclination to revisit this little project. Changed the thread title to something more fitting, and not drengin-specific.

Next up is the Korath ClanReaver. If anyone is at all interested, here's the concept sketch I doodled up. The idea is that they're sort of rabidly evil, death-worshiping "Necro-Drengin". They wear these armored "siphon suits" that make use of their "lifeforce to energy" tech to power fearsome personal weapons in combat, like this guy's power claw, at the eventual expense of their own life. Hence they get progressively crazier and more emaciated.



I'll post the 3D figure when it's completed.
