Starbases in Sectors

Do you get benefits for having multiple star bases in a signle sector? For example, if 10 trade routes go through a single sector, can you build 15 starbases all loaded up on trade modules and get bonuses from all of them?

Bonuses do "stack", so yes, you would get more benefit from multiple star bases. I do believe, though, that there is a limit on how much "extra bonus" you can get though. 15 would be way too much I'm sure, but I can't say for sure what the limit is. I've done this with influence, built up and maxed 1 starbase, then built another and loaded it up. It works great!

My home sector's production bonus is up around the 400% mark I think in my current game. Maybe a little higher. If you did something like that along the entire route (or even half!) I suspect you'd end up with a ludicrously profitable trade route. And that's only with around 6 starbases. So it's not too hard. :)

400%?!? Cool!! I'll have to try that. See if I can get my trade increases up to that level! :D

In a similar way, I assume you can't stack to the nth degree the Starbase module that subtracts one from your enemies movement?

I never thought of that, but wouldn't it be nice if you could!

The picture fades out to the shot of a Drengin attack fleet frozen in one spot and unable to move, while the entire Terran Armada "zips" around out of range to conquer the Drengin Empire!!

LOL

As far as I know, all bonuses stack indefinitely.

Production has a point of diminishing returns based on the individual planet's class, but other than that, I haven't seen any significant limitations.

Here is a link to some more in-depth info about how the bonus system works and it's impact on production.

Stupid link was split. Go to the Encylopedia and hit the link for "Economics in Galciv".

Which still leaves the question of starbase-induced slowdowns open... could you make a black-hole sector where enemy ships go in, but never come out?

You could create a 'black-hole' sector, but if the AI realizes what's happening, they could build their own starbases at the edge of the sector to increase their ships' speeds. Likewise on your end if the AI managed to build up a -15 speed in a sector.

there must be someone silly enough to try this and tell us about the results! :)

Speed adjustment from starbases doesn't seem to be working? The bonuses to speed at least, less sure about the minus ones. :)

It only applies to units who start in that sector, but not to freshly built units. I actually tested this. Stacking affects also apply, to what limit, I dont know.
