Out of Memory Crash 1.7 beta

Hello,
I downloaded the 1.7 beta and started a game, and it ran great. It was a small map with 1 opponent, which is something I couldn't do before because of the memory problems.

However, If I play the game on a large map, with 5 opponents, with the terrain slider at 0%, and "enhance ship textures" off, I still eventually get a crash. I loaded a save, which luckily was the turn before the crash, and it crashed immediately upon loading. The ram usage was at about 2gb both times.

I started a new game, and cheated to make sure I wasn't conquered, and then just hit "turn" over and over again until the game crashed. I noticed that it crashes after a battle, or to be more specific, when 1 opponent attacked another in my sensor range. This might have just been the straw that pushed the limit, but still. I'm going to try a game with No mods what-so-ever, and 1 with my preferred mods, and see the difference.

I did notice a large increase in performance when I have visual mods loaded. Before (1.61) if I ran a large map, with 5 custom races (using the Star Wars, Babylon 5, and Star Trek ship models), the game would last 12 turns (the 2nd autosave), now it runs much longer than that, but I haven't tested it fully. So great job so far.

I can post the debug file of my next game if it's wanted. This comp is winXP sp2, 2gb Ram, 4gb pagefile, radeon 1900xt 512mb video card.

Do make sure to post back about how long it lasts without those mods loaded. The additional high-detail models can use quite a lot of memory.

I am seeing the exact same error as above. It usually occurs during an autosave or if I try to manually save the game. System locks up and I get an out of memory error. If remember, it seems like this was a problem in an older version of DA and GCII. I am running Vista Ultimate 32 with all upgrades, 4 GB of DRAM, and a 6 GB page file. So I don't see how I can be "out of memory". I tried loadding this to smart exception but it also fails under Vista. Any thoughts?

4gb of Ram and still running out of memory...sheesh.

I have some thoughts....Im getting these crash errors as well...still...in TA beta and usually just in time to ruin the climax of an end game...its NOT my system. My specs more than double the recommended. A search using the term "memory" in these forums reveals that this has been an ongoing problem with a long history.

My thoughts are "Hey...maybe we can solve this ongoing problem before kicking off the NEXT expansion." Sure, sure...this is the beta, I know...and Stardock kudos yadda yadda yadda. Its true the folks do a lot of things right. But this is an OLD problem. I hope we can get this fixed.

I don't get an out of memory crash but every turn really takes a very long time. I have 2GB RAM and have a dual core CPU (GeForce 8800 Ultra). I am playing a huge map and am pretty far in the game

I am recieving similar messages. Once I engagw in a battle, the game freezes. I am unable to even turn off the game without difficulty. I am running on 512 mb of ram (its lower than anyone else who posted but it still is the required amount). After playing, the computer gives me a message. It says the computer has ran out of memory, and that the computer will be forced alott more space for memory by deleting other things...? I'll check what Smart Exception said. Nonetheless, I'm wondering when this will be fixed.

The other thing that interests me is this: so many players are being practically forced to used 1gb RAM+ while on the system requirements, it says you only need 512?
