Hi guys welcome to round 3 of the League. We have a few streamlining rules this round so be sure to check them out below. If of course we feel that there are not to our liking then we can change at the end of the round, but i think we are on top of most of the bugs now and things should go more smoothly. I will point out though that there is 1 rule that i will put in place this round that can be thrown out mid round.

"in the instance of a notified and accepted non-submital, not a "no show", in a 4 man team, a back up game will be allowed to be played be a fellow team member. That fellow team member will be randomally assigned by either myself or Firebender. A non submital with no explantion or prior notification will not be granted this privilage."

Ok here is the rule changes for round 3,

Team Bonus

Fastest team game time (average) 2 BP
2nd fastest team game time (average) 1 BP

Highest team score (average) 2 BP
2nd highest team score (average) 1 BP

Individual Bonus

For this round ( the different victory types),

1 BP for fastest and highest game per victory type.

No penalty's.

All ties, in both team and individual and in both speed and score categories, receive equal points.

Where's a score is dropped in any given team, that score, though no longer eligable for the MVL submission points are still eligable for any BP they may have achieved.

Averages are calculated from the totals of submitted games divided by number of members in the team. If a player gives advanced notice of his inability to submit a game then that player will not be counted as a member of the team for purposes of calculating averages.

I will before the end of this round post a new thread that will be the MVL Rule Book. Where these changes and the rest of the rules will be outlined, but do refram from posting in that thread please.

And now round 3, and Firebender this should make you happy.

Each team is required to submit a victory in each of the 4 different conditions. Your team captain will assign each player a victory condition to complete.

3 opponents on a Medium map.

Habitable Planets - common
Planets - abundant
Stars - rare
Anomolies - abundant
Asteroids - rare (DA)
Tech Rate - normal
Density - Lose clusters

Random minors
All victory conditions enabled
Allow Surrenders
Tech trading on
Super abilities off
Blind exploration off
Mega Events enabled

For team B, which has 5 players, the captain should assign his 4 team mates 4 different victorys and then play a game attempting a victory condition of his own choosing. Now we never really discussed what happens next but my proposal is that the two games that are the same, the captains choice and one of his players, these games could be combined and averaged to give us 1 game instead of two. Provided they are both victories. This is not in concrete but a suggestion.

The other way we could go is to leave it up to the team in question to decide which game to sumbit.

Either way have fun with round 3 guys and i hope these new rule changes work out well for us.

We can have other chat threads. I just have no clue who has posted and who hasn't. Confusing for me - but painful for those counting together the results.

this seems a bit draconian to me. i mean, it's not like we're competer for anything here.

alternatively there could be another thread at the core that'd be locked to all but a few of the more central members (nielo, fire, mumble by virtue of his impecable sense of organization). it'd consist only of each player's name and relevant score info (assuming that player has made a submission - if s/he hasn't, then it'll simply say 'no submission yet' or 'no submission expected this round' for those cases).

Hey guys. I know this is not normally a place to advertise a new empire, but I just built one. It's called th MV League. It does not aspire to greatness, but it is a good place to hide away all those secondary little map characters you use for the league.
I'm also asking mumble to make it altmeta-fitting because I do not want to lose my #1 position there only because I join my own empire.

I do kind of agree with the above sentiment but this is really a losing battle. People will post taunts, amusing stuff, questions regarding the League and pretty much everthing under the sun. Why, there are even folks that would advertise a new empire in the League results thread like the following. Kind of amusing that both quotes were posted by the same guy.

Not quite sure what you mean by "altmeta-fitting" or how I would be able to do such a thing. But if you mean you'd like the members games to be listed on the AltMeta then Kryo is the only one that can make that happen. AFAIK all you have to do is post a request in the stickied AltMeta Help Desk thread.

Actually, the idea of keeping this website clear and simple is behind both ideas. This should make referencing easier for neilo and fire - they can find all the games played in one place. We will never get this thread clean (I am adding to the problem right now), but at least we have some place for the referees to look the scores up.

Don't get me wrong. There is not and there cannot be any compulsion about this empire - some just don't have a metaverse only character - some of us only use one character and so on. I am even thinking of moving my non-metaverse characters out of my own empire again as soon as some of you have moved in - because characters who do not submit games to the league will only confuse this empire. The only reason I haven't done this yet is that I want to make the empire easier to find for the start.

exactly, ane penalizing people for doing what's behind the point of their joinging the league in the first place - having fun - doesn't seem like a good answer to me.

not to blow my own horn, but this is nothing compared to what i deal with at work. i coordinate about 30 teaching assistants in nearly every non-pedagogical aspect of their own jobs (as well as admin support for about a half dozen faculty). the problem is people's behavior, but enforcing too much moderation of their behavior isn't always a great way to deal with it. a more proximate cause are the structures of these forums themselves. at work i always tell people to email me if they need to be sure something will get done. i've got a great system worked out with MS Outlook that allows me to organize job tasks and confirm that the TAs have done things they're supposed to do. in fact, if this issue is of enough concern, i'd be willing to volunteer myself and skills as league secretary- if it's something people think would be of help.

Yeah it could but legislating it really won't help. I think it's managable as long as we continue using a new thread for each round.

And yes I do see how it would be worthwhile to have an empire for people that do have a dedicated MVL character. I joined up Toshiro.

What really sucked was having to play the entire game over because I misread the rules and did not turn Super Ability off. I wonder what my score woulda been if I could have had SuperBreeder...

i know what you mean! the last game i played was the second go-around, because the first time i forgot to hit the metaverse button. d'oh!

and great game. i've been able to get my win time down, but i'm still working on getting my scores up.

I'm sorry but this is not allowed. You can submit as many games as you wish to the MV but once you submit a game to the current round's thread you cannot submit another. I don't remember who it was but we had this same issue last round and we had to disallow that game as well.  

I do understand that you had the Error 16 issue which adds a bit of complication but your post in Reply #114 of this thread clearly submitted a 2 year 18,200 point Military Conquest and that is the game that must be used for this round.

Sorry. Nice game anyway.
