Need Help with the "Hearts and Minds of Robots"

I'm playing the "Hearts and Minds of Robots" as Dregnin(sp?), but I've been unable to either:
1) Create an Alliance or Trade with the Yor, or
2) Locate/Encounter 'Delta-3'.

FYI - I've been able to protect the Yor, but no matter what Technology or Trade Good I give them, I'm still unable to Ally/Trade with them.

Is there a "trigger" that I missed - a certain # of Turns, a Planet or a Sequence? Do I need to "rescue" the Yor before they will Ally with me?

Any assistance is greatly appreiciated!

To ally, both races need the 'Alliances' tech and 'Close' relations. Tech trading is obviously on, so that's no problem. Good ways of getting to 'Close' is having trade routes with them, having treaties, strong military, and getting into the diplomacy screen and trading/giving them something as often as possible.

I gave them the 'Alliances' tech and exchanged a couple Treaties with them.

I'll try giving them more Military aid.

Any idea when/where "Delta-3" shows up?

Thanks!

Hi!
IIRC I couldn't get them to ally until I had better mil score than they had. All of a sudden they were close and I was able to ally with them.

IIRC, Delta-3 is just an internal name in the scenario. Once you ally with the Yor, you've got Delta-3 (at least I don't remember every running across anyone by that name).

In the backstory, Delta-3 (should be D-3, following the Yor naming pattern) is a Yor who sells ammunition and armament (a weapons merchant), presumably to speed the extermination of carbon-based life forms.

He's not in the scenario. If they knew what they were doing, Delta-3 should just have been made the Yor leader for this mission. But none of the characters are actually in the scenario.

This is the one I was having a problem with, 2 time Yor went to war with me game over and a other time I was getting bored waiting so I went a attack everyone so it was just me and Yor then he attacked me, that was on painful sitting so I change it to cakewalk this time just so I can get past this level.

I give Yor the Alliances tech and each time and even ships to help with his defence.
I will see how getting my military up helps

Make sure that your not overwellming him with influence either.. When I played that mission I had to be very carefuly not to put my planets too close to his, or to build up my influence techs too much. That way you avoide the potential tripple minus (IIRC) you can get from influence (close borders- neg 1, alarming influence- neg 2). That tripple minus can really hurt relations, so I just consolidated my worlds across the top and side of the map and focused on building my millitary, before heading around the yor and crushing the Korath, and while doing this I talked to the Yor (after tradeing with them and giving them stuff like Xeno Ethics so we had the same allignment (mega bonus to relations)) and got an alliance, ka-ching!

You need to share research and economic treaties with the Yor (before they sell theirs to anyone else.) Your military score must be significantly higher than theirs. When or before they are attacked, give (or sell) some of your ships to them. It is best to build and give ships that use a different weapon than the Yor usually use, so they can have a diverse military. (You may want to rename the ships that you want to give, so they will be easier to find in the diplomacy screen.) Establish and maintain as many trade routes with them as possible (remember, multiple trade routs can go to one planet.) Frequently trade money, technologies, and trade goods with them. Give gifts when you can afford to do so. You may not want to trade military-related technologies, because this would improve their chances to reach or surpass your military score. It is usually better to keep them alive by giving them ships, because you can watch and control their military might. (Arguably, these benefits could be outweighed by the fact that you yourself will have to pay to produce the gift ships.) When you have a "Close" relationship, give them the alliance technology (if they don't already have it,) then finalize the alliance to finish the scenario.

Thank for the help I took a bit from each stayed with the three plants you start with and just took the one to the east, one to the south and the one to the south west then sent 6 trade ship to them go a research and economic treaties going I also sent them the 2 destroyers and 3 defenders I had then went about building up a fleet of destroyers seeing as that was the big ship I could build in about 15 turns I had 9 and was the strongest but everyone was -1 with me for been so strong and I got a -1 for some mil things (can't remember what it was called) but staying with just the 6 world and giving them stuff all the time I got it. thanks
