Another after help with upgrade

from GalCiv2 Forums
My computer is unable to cope with Gigantic Abundant.
Ship movement is slow and intermittant.
Worst of all I am unable to save the game. It takes forever and eventually I get the "out of memory" message.

AMD Atlon 64 4000+
Nvidia 7800 GTX
2 MB Ram
Win XP service pack 2

The drivers are up to date as far as I can tell.
Any advice on an upgrade would be apreciated.

I am surprised anything runs with that amount of ram.....

Shouldn't that be GB instead of MB?

How much else is running and eating memory?

Please go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 (or wherever you installed the game at), open the debug.err file you find there in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. If this is a DA report, you'll find the debug in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar instead. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.

Note: If running on Vista with DA 1.6b2 or later, the debug.err is now located in My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar.

I am already playing a smaller game.

It was DA latest version and XP and of course 2GB of ram.

I close down my virus checker, messenger and anything else that shows on the lower toolbar.

Thanks for the interest KRYO, but I do not feel like wasting several weeks game play again.
I will stick to smaller games if nothing can be suggested.
