Research Bonus Bug? Or am I misunderstanding something?

Hi folks,

I purchased GC2: DL a couple months ago and have merrily been wreaking havoc across the galaxy since. Once I had a decent understanding of the game I bumped the difficulty up to Tough, and of course immediately had my butt handed to me. I started paying a great deal of attention to the numbers and mechanics of the game, which leads me to...

I'm late mid game. If I add up the total research from my Civ Manager screen, it equals 934 points.

However, if I look at my Civ Stats and Graphs screen, click the Misc tab, it lists my Research Points as 344. Okay, no worries yet.

Still on the Civ Stats and Graphs screen, I check my abilities. I have a research bonus of 138%. (Yay TWO research resources.) I have built every single research enhancing project I could lay my hands on. So, 344*138% = 818. Hrmph. I take a look, and of course I have research bonuses applied to each planet from planet bonuses, economic SB bonuses, etc. These account for the difference.

Here is the big problem: I am currently researching Adamantium II, at a RP cost of 2000. The time to complete is 6 weeks. The game is using the base 344 research points, not my adjusted 934 value from all my bonuses. I clicked on many different techs, and it is consistent. I reloaded to prior saves to check, and this has been happening throughout the game.

Can anyone explain why this is happening? Is this, as I expect, a known bug? Or is this one particular game bugged? Is this a known issue with a workaround?

Any info would be appreciated. I did a forum search, and found some vague references to a research bonus bug, but nothing definitive. Thanks!

I forgot to mention this is GC2 DL 1.05; I also have screenshots of the relevant data if needed.

check your tax spending.

100% production means 944 or whatever your actual total but if you spend let's say 30% toward research then your total will be modified to that level after the other bonus. I agree that it should work like the production where the levels of each planets are calculated and thus valid on the colmanager but if you did that you would lose some research from rounding.

so: 934 * research spending level = actual research.

Using that calculation I'd say you are at 36% research spending (give or take a few points due to rounding)
