How does Terraforming work?

I cant figure out Terraforming, i built it but then it disappeared off my planet surface map and i cant find it, how do i make it work?

Terraforming just changes yellow, orange and red squares into green ones, on which you can then place other buildings. There is no 'Terraforming' building that stays behind.

What about Orbital Terraformer?


The Orbital TerraFormer is a Galactic Achievement that instantly fully terraforms all your planets (all the yellow orange and red squares become green). It stays present, because technically it's an galactic achievement not a terraforming project, and because it's not a one time only thing.

Btw the Orbital Teraforming tech is by far the best tech in the game . I always go for this tech right out of the gate or close to it . Not only do all your planets go up in value and are teraformed your lowly 1 and 2 planets turn into 15-16 . Also the AI does not colonize PR 1 planets so you can literally get 30+ planets off of the bat just by researching to that tech .

You could also go neutral, it has the same effect as Orbital Terraformer (which I then still build to get rid of it from the build menu and so that noone else can get it)
