Titles for Game Ships - maximum character limit

Just a minor quibble - Is there any way to increase the maximum number of characters for the title of a ship? I find I'm often stopped short when the name that I assign gets 'too long'.

Yeah, this really bothers me.

Beyond that -- the whole text entry system in GalCivII is terrible. I mean, I love the game, but it's not fun.

Sorry, but that sort of thing is really not in the realm of modding.

actually i'm think you can make the name of a ship class or template longer by manually changing the display name in the file, but unfortunately you can't do that with individual ships in the game. so if you wanted to name a ship "TAS Martha Washington's Geranium Garden," you're SOL. i dunno, maybe if you crack the code in a save file, but that's far beyond me.
