Customizing races

Can a race such as the Altarian Resistance be customized with out permanently changing their profile? If not, how can their original stats be restored. My kid was playing the other day and went in a changed names and such and I am not sure what is what now. Would like to restore everything. Thanks in advance.

I believe your kid might of actually customed a new race, because you will still find the core races in the opponents menu selection. The core races don't actually get deleted or modified ... from my experience anyways ...

if the race is selected as A.I., your selected bonuses are changed by the A.I. (To reflect the points allowed for according to difficulty levels). So it doesn't really matter, but if you wants to revert them to original, just delete the Customraces files in the Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar folder.

It will be called X.customracexml where X is the name given to the race.

I know this is kinda an old thread, but if anyone else has this happen you can also hit the "Clear" button in the race customization screen. This will reset the race selected to its basic non-altered form (whether it be a built in race or custom race), this is easier than deleting the xml file

Off topic-- Is it possible to change the description of your custom race? For some reason, my custom race's description is the same as that of the Terrans.

yes, go into the Customrace.xml file created, and you will find toward the top "RaceDescription" edit away. Also, while you have that open, remember to change the "ShortEmpireName" to something that is suitable for your race or otherwise the original race name will appear on fleets and in some dialogue tags (eg your Rag Tag Cooperative that you customized from the Torians, its fleets will still be called Torian instead of Rag Taggers LOL)
