Help downloading patches

I recently bought GalCivII gold edition from my local fred meyers. when I set up my stardock account I was at work so I did not have my serial number with me. Now from home I want to download updates and such from stardock but it always tells me that I have an invalid serial number. I have tried typing it in every way case sensitive and not. also tried with and without dashes and spaces. Any help is greatly appreciated.
