No Sound

I start up the game and there's no sound, simple as that.
Everything else that's supposed to make sound does (Winamp, etc) so I'm lead to believe that GalCiv is at fault.

Reading the techical stickies and the manual there is no mention of this problem, so I'm at a loss as to where to start.

My computer is not muted.
GalCivII is not muted via options.
Again, everything else works with sound.

Suggestions? Leads?

If you downloaded the game, don't forget to get the multimedia package too in SDC.
