So I start a quick game on a Duel map, playing as a research-centric custom race. I start out pretty good, and decide to go for a tech victory, and build TONS of Influence star bases as a back-up. so, I'm minding my own buissiness, when I get a "leader assasinated" random event, and my opponent declares war on me. Now, I built up a decent navy, but only afew ships were capitals and the rest were basicly kamikazi fighters. So they're blitzing all over the place, shooting down my ships and throwing transports at my planets, (only one falls though, THANK YOU TIR-QUAN TRAINING!!!) but I have a small fleet of frigates armed with Nano Rippers that was hunting for pirates, and I decide to go out in a blaze of glory, (I was 100% convinced I was going to lose, Almost all of eco was trade-based, and when war was declared, the bottom fell off of my economy) when I notice one of my planets still has a transport on it ledt over from when I destroyed the Dread Lords. So I scramble the transport and send it on a course to the enemy's home world, as well as my fleet. The defending ships (a pathetic two Defenders) are destroyed no problem, and I invade the planet with small casualties. Well, now they see it was a bad idea to come gunning for me, and ask for peace. I accept, and once it ends, I find out that that little adventure netted me practically all the galaxy, and I just hit the turn button a few times, and I win a cultural victory. I got 2200 points for it, but I stupidly wasn't in the Metaverse.
