Attacked by the Iconians!?

I'm in the middle of playing a Tough Huge game. Two turns ago the Dregnin surrendered to Korx after I took about 90% of their planets. I'm playing as the Torian and my population is at about 50% capacity on most of my planets from filling up transports to invade Dregnin planets.

So since the war has ended, I decide to switch back to doing some planetary improvements. I research Soil Enhancement and start that on all my planets.

The next turn one of my planets is Invaded by the Iconians. What's weird is, there was no delcaration of war. Just popped up the invasion screen. I repelled them and was preparing to counter attack. I moved a ship into position to attack and it says Attacking the planet will be a declaration of war. I check the foreign stats screen and I'm not at war with Anyone??? So how did the Iconians attempt to invade one of my planets without declaring war?

Wow thats got me stumped in less .... where the inconians at war with the dregnin and had that planet they attacked been a dregnin world before you conquerd(spelling?) it. it could have been a type of glitch or something but the computer might have thought it to still be a dregnin world

but thats just me and my opinion

The planet was in Iconian Territory and it was one that I had taken from the Dregnin a few turns earlier before they surrendered to the Korx.

Well, the computer doesnt have to declare war on you to invade unless you are under that UP agreement to wait one week. And the announcements are always one week behind the turns, so if you return fired the next round you should see the "Iconians blah blah declare war on so and so" when you hit the turn button.

Sorta like when you wipe out a civ in 1 turn then on the next turn it tells you that you killed them. Its the computer's way of saying "Hey, IF you forgot, you killed these guys...". "Oh thanks, I totally forgot that I invaded them 10 secs ago and kicked their alien equivilent of a butt.

Right. but in the foreign relations window it showed that our relations were Close and not At War. It was really odd, and in my 6+ games I've never seen that happen before. I'm obviously new to the game and thought maybe it was some sort of weird event that I hadn't seen before.

1. I was definately invaded by Iconians ~ but they were unsucessful because my soldiering was maxed out and i had a 2 to 1 advantage
2. I was definately not at war with the Iconians
3. The Iconians definately did not declare war on me
4. That treaty had been passed that moves all ships out of enemy territory when declaring war, that did not trigger.
5. The end of turn summary said the Iconians failed to invade my planet, no war delcaration in the end of turn summary though

I'm with Unkynd here. I had this happen to me nearly a month ago.

My uncommented post:

I haven't found a way to make it appear on purpose (due to it being driven by the AI) so I haven't been able to send in a proper bug report or even a savegame the round before it happened :/

Was the planet invaded one that had recently flipped? Meaning your influence won them over and it became your planet. If so, the Iconians might have been invading that planet then it flipped to you. I have seen that happen and it doesnt result in war. If that didnt happen, it could be a bug, there's a program you can download from Stardock to run before you play a game and it will make a report you can send in if you feel theres a bug.

In my instances, the planets were created by a mega event and I colonized it. Then the AI sent troop transports in and invaded my planets...weeks if not months later.

I hadn't had any flips or mega events that created planets. Just planets I had taken from the Dregnin who were eliminated from the game at the point that the iconian invasion took place.

A small glitch that I've also encountered. Very likely the game doesn't check for a diplo state at invasion, so Iconians sent their troops at drengin's planet, but you conquered it before transport arrived. If you keep at least one ship in orbit it prevents that event to happen.
