Here is a picture of my problem.

I usually barrow games with my cousin all the time...he had GC2: Dread Lords so I deicded I'd try it for myself for a while but when I came home to install it I have this problem.

I can't see ships or planets for some reason I can't seem to fix it.

How can I fix it and what is causing this?

That is piracy. If you want to try the game out without buying it, you should check out the demo.

Anyway I did some checking around and I been told there is nothing wrong with my cousin letting me barrow the game. Stuff like how he bought it...he owns it...he can do what he wants with it expect burning or making copies.

He bought the game from the store with his own money.

So I just would like an answer to my orginal question. How come I can't see the ships or planets for some reason?

When you buy a game or other software, you are really only purchasing a license to use that product. The license varies from product to product. What you are doing is considered fine for most games, since you generally need the disk to play, it is often actually not allowed, strictly speaking. In the case of this game, it is expressly forbidden, as every install is actually a full copy of the game. So yes, installing the game is, in this case, piracy.

LW2000,
Like Kryo mentioned, there is a downloadable demo that you can use to try out the game.

If you un-install the full version and install the demo, you will be far more likely to get help. When you do, you will need to post the debug.err info into the reply so we can see your system specs and such. It will give a clue as to why your graphics are messing up.
The file is located in the main program folder, usually C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2 (...\DarkAvatar if applicable). It can be opened with Notepad, then select everything and copy/paste into the reply.

But as you have found out, trying to obtain help when you are not legally using the game won't yield any results.

Umm, I signed up just for this site, just to make you guys see how wrong you are..

In no form or way is this person committing ''Piracy'' simply because he is not using a copy of the game, it's the original disc, not a home made burnt c-d. If the game doesn't require a disc to play that's the company's fault for not including that. But simply borrowing a game is not piracy...

Here are some links to back me up..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_infringement#Methods_of_copyright_infringement

http://www.bsa.org/usa/antipiracy/ Provided by the Business Software Alliance

Provided above are two sites...

If you're going to throw random stuff out there you need to know what you're talking about...

Sorry, but it is not 'random stuff'.
And your opinion of how Stardock's licensing works is worthless.

Whether original disc or burned copy makes no difference.
Only those that buy and register the game are entitled to support.

Ok I gave the game back to my cousin and tred the demo still no luck If I'm to actually buy this game and "legally" play it. I want to fix this issue first please.

Turn down the 'tactical view zoom level' slider in the options screen.
