Super Manipulator and Super Diplomat and High diplomacy.

I am trying to create a race that follows the Lords of War scenario, that is you are the arms dealer of the galaxy fomenting war and conflict. It seems the Super Manipulator skill and the Super Diplomat are kind of redundant in that with a high diplomacy skill you should be able to get other races to go to war easier, just like Super Manipulator.I ask because I can double up on my diplomacy skill with choosing Super diplomat and choosing a form of govt or spending points to raise my diplo skill even higher or spending points on economy instead of diplo etc.Whereas Super Manipulator will not raise my diplo skill but give me that one special skill.Anybody know the nuts and bolts of this.

I play as the Terrans quite often, and have had very little trouble getting the other races to go to war with each other. The diplomacy bonuses are useful for other things as well. This does indeed make the manipulator ability redundant, IMO. I like being the only race with this level of capability, so you will rarely find the Drath in my games.

Super Manipulator doesn't necessarily have to be on good terms with its proxy civ to get them to whail on a 3rd party. Also apparently takes no negatives to its relations with proxy civ or anyone else for being unwilling to participate in attacking the highly-advanced, militarily muscular powerhouse that it is bad-mouthing. Think Wormtounge, as opposed to Gandalf the Grey.

None of which is necessarily intended to extoll SM over SD.
