Ok...Small galaxy, all victory conditions enabled, I choose the Iconians, give myself econ , military prod., research, trade, and something else for bonuses and I pick the Pacifists. Races...Torians, Yor, and Drath, three good, one evil, sets the odds of a diplomatic victory for me pretty high. Difficulty = challenging.
I research the basic stuff, propulsion techs and whatnot, then I decide to go for a diplomatic victory, and I research some diplomacy techs (that includes trade).
I colonize some worlds near me, all of them are low class planets, class 6-9, then I colonize two planets on the opposite side of the Yor Collective's territory, ones a class 12, yeah!
So now I try to increase relations with the other civs, I build up a small military, and start trading. They all like me now. A new minor race is formed, the fedaralists, So I give them 2500 bc to keep themselves from being wiped out before they have a chance, why did they have to start off right by the homeworld of the only evil civ?
Now I trade techs (that good diplomacy helps).
Who would have guessed! The Yor went to war with the feds (federalists), So I pay a load of my treasury toward ending that war, and soon later, the Drath think they're all big and bad, so they declare war on the Yor. So once again, I spend money to end that war.
Even though I had the best Economy in the game, my peace keeping efforts were becoming very expensive, so I let them fight it out.
The Drath started losing, so I "convinced" the Torians to go to war with the Yor, after I made them my ally.
So now its all out war, while I watch from the sidelines.
I research habitat improvement and the previuos (spell??) tech and make my planets stronger. So now I've got super productive planets, but I'm a peaceful Nation, but my relations aren't going up, so I head for a Technology victory.
Now all I have to do is keep hitting the turn button.
The Yor vs. Torian & Drath war was strangly an even matchup between the two sides, the entire war was an ongoing cycle: declare war, 25 turns, peace treaty, build up more troops, repeat. Though I could still afford to keep the feds out of harms way.
The loss to trade was crippling my economy, but I had to keep them at war until I won, so I researched some government techs, turned into an Interstellar Republic, and then kept on researching.
On the Five gazillionth week, I won!
