Performance Issues in Combat

Since I've had DA I've had no problems with graphics, except for in combat. With the latest build, the game plays great with all graphics settings maxed out, except for in combat. When ships take damage, and explode, the video gets very choppy. Does anyone know what graphic settings I can change that will help with combat performance?

I have a Core 2 Duo 6300, running XP, 1 gig of ram, and an Nvidia 7600 GT video card

You may try the 'simple explosions' option and see if that helps.

That did it, thank you. I was looking for options under the video tab. I didn’t see these options on the interface tab. Still plenty of eye candy, yet it runs very smooth. I’m surprised, as combat viewer was choppy as soon as ships took damage, and not just when ships exploded. Now with simple explosions checked the entirety of combat runs smooth.
