yup I've had exactly the same problem except with me it went straight to the error message!!

We all got that problem. I bought game yesterday and cant download this file too. Still validation error. So pls dont tell about support mail in each topic but check this file ASAP

Yes. Everyone is having this problem, and the error log is exactly as posted in this thread. Support does not need to have us all repeat exactly the same thing - all they have to do is attempt to download heightmaps themselves.

I bought digital download because will play fast Fast lol. I lost 2 days for multi heightmap download and probably next 3-4 for support communication. OMG

You shouldn't need the heightmaps to play. You'd need to download them to get them in any case to get the latest version (not even sure if the original version of heightmaps shipped in the packaged version anyway).

As Simalot said, the heightmaps are completely optional. All you need is the 'core' download with no sub-modules at all to play DL, and the core download + DA to play DA. The Multimedia, Movies, Tutorials, and Heightmaps packs are not needed to play. The heightmaps are not even really something you'll notice in-game at all aside from some improvement in load times.

Thanks for your answers. Now I understand that its optional but of course if heightmaps really optimize performance of the planetary graphics i will download it too. May you check this file or show any other download link (if possible) pls?

It is only available on SDC, but the problem is being worked on.

It's is bad enough that Gal Civ II has bug after bug now we have to deal with non stop bugs with Stardock. This is ridiculous. What's next? Are you going to have another website for us to download software updates for Stardock? Why not have just an update button like every other software develpoer in the world right on the opening screen? Looks like its just so we can view other buggy software you sell..

I was having the same problem last night. I tried again tonight and it worked for me.

If you can't complete the download of the Heightmaps;

Please try the following from within Stardock Central:

-Go to Tools->Settings
-Click the Internet section
-Click the "Refresh XML Data" button
