Why Won't My Serial NumberS Register, and the game keeps crashing its driving me stupider

Ok...I'm a Computer User, Non-Technical, so the answer is probably right in front of my nose...
I downloaded the Stardock Central software. I pushed the update program button, and it tells me that my serial number is incorrect.
On the jewel case is one Serial Number, on a piece of paper contained in the box is a second number. I've tried both so many times its inappropraite.
Alternately, when I push the register button, a message comes up saying "Your accout information has expired, would you like to renew?" If I push no, I can't register, if I push yes, it takes me to Stardock website and looks like it wants me to buy things!

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong!

It sounds like you're leaving the product drop-down list set to TGN Subscription (the first/default item in the Games list), rather than selecting GC2 or DA from the list, then trying to register.

I have a similar problem. I bought the game today (it was in plastic and everything, I can show a copy of the bill if needed), but it says i have an invalid code. The only serial number I can find is a number on the second CD the code has 28 digits and everything, but i cant register, it keeps saying my serial number is correct.
I tried registering on the site, but the game doesn't show up in 'registered'.
