Ship wont upgrade

Hi. I just got da a few days ago and I noticed that when you upgrade your ships, the new design does not carry on to the rest of the fleet and I have to go into each ship and manually upgrade it with the new design where when I played dread lords it did this automatically and when you have 50 ships its annoying.

Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?
